In 1858 Rev. Joseph Rippon (a great uncle of Rev. Henry Highfield) wanted to establish a superior educational institution for the Wesleyan Methodist Mission in South Ceylon. On 2 March 1874 (the death anniversary of Rev. John Wesley) Wesley College was founded in the City Mission Buildings at Dam Street, Pettah Sri Lanka. Wesley’s first Principal was Rev. Samuel Wilkin and first Vice Principal, Rev. The Methodist institution was envisaged to be a distinctly Christian college, however it currently provides secondary education for over three thousand Sri Lankan students from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds. Wesley College is named after John Wesley (1703–1791), the founder of the Methodist Church . An Oxford graduate, he was an important evangelist in the history of the Christian Church.

Wesley College 🧢⚡️ vs. Toronto Police 👮♂️ 🚔👮🚨🏏
Celebrating Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 day with great comradary and sportspinship together with incumbent Consulate General of Sri Lanka Mrs. Medhavi Peiris, her team, Toronto Police and of course WESELY COLLEGE!
The 1st win of day was recorded by The Consulate General of Sri Lanka beating Toronto Police Canada.
However, the Toronto Police Canada team struck back comfortably beating WESLEY COLLEGE at a game of village-style cricket filled with good banter and lots of laughter!
Here is the beginning of my cricketing career along with many other endeavours!

Another charismatic Wesleyite has earned his wings with our national carrier — Rahul De Silva. 🇱🇰
A sportsman, academic and leader, Rahul is a thoroughbred Wesleyite, former rugby captain and Deputy Head Prefect. He led Wesley to its only rugby championship in 70 years. After school, he represented CR & FC and Havelock Sports Club, was Vice-Captain of the Sri Lanka Schools team, and went on to represent Sri Lanka.
A Finance & Accountancy graduate from Swinburne University, Australia, Rahul now takes to the skies.
A very proud moment for all Wesleyites. Wishing him every success.
