I was invited as the coordinator of the WFP Sri Lanka Alumni Chapter with two other Sri Lanka Alumni colleagues Mahinda Katugaha and Visakha Tillekeratne to a meeting with the new Country Director Philip Ward and Deputy Country Director Robert Oliver of the UN World Food Programme in Sri Lanka last morning. We had cordial discussions for about 1 hour on humanitarian operations in Sri Lanka as well as capacity building,training,collaboration and assisting the Country Office on identified activities and participation at UN events by the Sri Lanka Alumni members in the future .

UN and WFP Sri Lanka staff, including WFP Sri Lanka Alumni members, bid farewell to Country Director AbdurRahim Siddiqui, who retired from service after 38 years at the UN Conference hall last evening.

WFP Sri Lanka Alumni Chapter members successfully launched a pilot project captioned "Öne Dish Meal" with an excellent demonstration of preparing a low-cost, nutritious meal to an identified vulnerable settlement community in the city of Colombo last evening. (9 May 2025)

We hope to continue this programme in the Provinces/Districts of the island during this year.
