How many more talented footballers must Sri Lanka lose before the system changes?”

Another young football talent has reportedly been pushed aside, and once again Sri Lankan football fans are left asking the same painful question is our football really developing, or are they destroying our future football ?

According to a recent source 16-year-old Royal College footballer Azmaan Khan, regarded by many as one of the country’s brightest young prospects, was left out of Sri Lanka’s final AFC Under-17 squad despite an outstanding record at school and academy level.

This is not just about one player.

This is about a system that continues to disappoint young footballers, parents, coaches, and fans who truly care about the future of Sri Lankan football.

Azmaan Khan’s performances speak for themselves, his achievements over 130 career goals at school and club level, MVP honours in major youth tournaments, international academy exposure in Thailand and Malaysia, and recognition as one of the most technically gifted players of his generation. Yet despite all this, he was reportedly dropped from the final squad while Sri Lanka struggled in competition.

When supporters raise concerns about these decisions, we are often accused of “pulling legs” or “being negative.” But questioning unfair selections is not negativity.Asking for transparency is not hatred. Wanting merit-based football is not an attack on the game.

Real football development does not happen through speeches, media conferences, or social media posts. Development happens when talented players are protected, encouraged, and given fair opportunities to represent their country.

Unfortunately, Sri Lankan football has seen too many stories of favouritism, poor selection processes, and talented youngsters disappearing before reaching their full potential. Even previous reports in local media have raised concerns about questionable youth selections and players being overlooked despite proven performances.

How can Sri Lanka dream of competing with Asia when the very players capable of lifting our standards are ignored?

How many more “Azmaan Khans” are we going to lose?

Football belongs to the players who earn it on the pitch, not to politics, favourites, or closed-door decisions.

Sri Lankan football does not need silence anymore.

It needs accountability. It needs fairness. It needs real development.

Protect local talent before it is too late.Refresh Sri Lanka Football.Stop destroying the future of the game.

Help our football

Football belongs to the people — not to corruption.
Evidence has been submitted. Complaints have been raised. The Government knows. The Sports Minister knows. Yet silence continues while Sri Lankan football suffers.
We are not against football development. We are demanding accountability, transparency, and justice for the future of our game.
If there is nothing to hide, then release the truth to the public. If corruption exists, take action without fear or favour.
Sri Lankan football deserves honest leadership, proper grassroots development, and a clean system for the next generation.
Just like changes were demanded in cricket, it is time to refresh our football and ask those responsible to step down.
Over to Honorable President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka — the people are waiting for action, not promises.

Is Sri Lankan Football Really Developing?

Recent comments by Mr.Jaswar Umar about Sri Lanka targeting the SAFF Championship have created excitement among football fans. There is no doubt that winning the SAFF Cup would be a proud moment for the country. Sri Lanka has shown signs of improvement in recent years, especially in international rankings and regional performances.
But the real question remains: Is Sri Lankan football truly developing, or are we only talking about short-term results?
A SAFF title alone cannot define the future of football in Sri Lanka. True football development begins from the grassroots level — schools, academies, village tournaments, youth leagues, coaching systems, and proper infrastructure. Unfortunately, many football lovers still feel that these areas remain weak and neglected.
Across the country, talented young players continue to struggle due to lack of facilities, poor coaching structures, and limited opportunities. Many regional clubs survive without financial support. Youth competitions are inconsistent, and there is no strong nationwide football pathway that guarantees long-term player development.
The Football Federation often speaks about visions, plans, and future success. Supporters are not against those ambitions. In fact, every Sri Lankan football fan wants to see the national team succeed. But fans are now asking an important question:

Where is the visible progress?
Promises alone cannot build football. Action is needed. Supporters want to see:

•Better grassroots programs
•More youth tournaments
•Qualified coaches around the country(D' License is not enough )
•Investments in football develope not only National Team builup.
•Improved football grounds and facilities
•Transparency in football administration
•Long-term planning instead of temporary publicity

Sri Lanka may celebrate improved rankings or positive results in South Asia, but the gap between Sri Lanka and stronger Asian nations is still massive. Countries like India, Uzbekistan, Japan, and even smaller developing football nations invest heavily in youth systems and professional structures. That is why they continue to progress.
If Sri Lanka truly wants to become a competitive football nation, development cannot remain only in speeches and newspaper headlines. The president and football authorities must focus less on talking and more on delivering the changes they promised.
Football fans are not criticizing because they hate the game. They are speaking because they care deeply about the future of Sri Lankan football.

Winning the SAFF Cup would be historic.
But building a strong football culture for the next generation would be an even greater victory.

Dani Carvajal – A Warrior Who Gave Everything to Real Madrid 🤍

Football is not only about goals, trophies, or fame. Sometimes it is about loyalty, passion and giving your entire heart to one badge. Dani Carvajal was one of those rare players.
After spending most of his life at Real Madrid, Carvajal finally says goodbye to the club he proudly called home. From a young academy player with big dreams to becoming one of the greatest right-backs in football history his journey is nothing short of legendary.

Carvajal joined Real Madrid’s youth academy as a child and worked hard through every level. He was never the biggest star in headlines, but on the pitch he was a true fighter. Every tackle, every sprint and every match showed his love for the white shirt.
After a short period in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid brought him back in 2013. That return became the beginning of a golden era. For more than a decade Carvajal stood on the right side of Madrid’s defense like a warrior helping the club dominate Europe once again.
He won everything possible with Real Madrid — Champions League titles, La Liga trophies, Club World Cups and many more. But more than trophies fans will remember his passion, leadership and never-give-up mentality. Even through injuries and difficult seasons, he always returned stronger.
Carvajal was not just a player. He became the heart of the dressing room and one of the leaders of a generation that created history at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Now, as he leaves Real Madrid, millions of fans around the world say thank you to a player who gave everything for the club. Legends are not remembered only for their success, but for the way they fight for the badge. Dani Carvajal did exactly that.Best wishes for next chapter in your life🙏🌹💪

Goodbye, warrior.
Goodbye, Madridista.
Your legacy at Real Madrid will live forever. 🤍💐
Dani Carvajal
