Senior Additional Solicitor General Parinda Ranasinghe is scheduled to be appointed as the Acting Attorney General of Sri Lanka. He will be sworn in before the Chief Justice tomorrow, 1 July 2024.

Last week, reports revealed that the proposal to extend the term of the current Attorney General, Sanjay Rajaratnam, by an additional six months was declined at the Constitutional Council meeting.

Parinda Ranasinghe is the son of the former Chief Justice of Sri Lanka, Parinda Ranasinghe (1988-1991).
