GCD Models recreated the Y62 Patrol almost perfectly in 1/64 scale. Yes, the Y62 has been through a face-lift and I'm hoping Gaincorp makes that version as well as the Nismo variant in the near future.

Being my first GCD model, it did not disappoint. The functioning steering means you can pose this little model nicely for some great photos. Based on a large vehicle, this model feels very heavy and solid too. From the headlights to the rear windscreen, the details are superb.

I see myself getting more GCD models into my collection in future 😉

The Nissan Patrol Y62 was launched in 2010 and while it focuses more on luxury and comfort, it doesn't lose its off-roading credentials. New features include Hydraulic Body Motion Control in its suspension and an All Mode 4x4 system to take on different terrains. The biggest change with the Y62 is the absence of a diesel engine. For this reason alone, the Y61 continued to sell until 2016 in Australia especially even though the Y62 was launched in 2010.

This didn't stop the Y62 from selling well though. Especially in the Middle-East, the Y62 sold very well with either a 4.0L V6 or the massive 5.6L V8. Later, a more powerful, face-lifted Nismo version was introduced. A more luxurious variant of the Y62 was sold in North America as Infiniti QX56, later renamed the QX80.
