National Ozone Unit of Sri Lanka

The Air Resources Management and National Ozone Unit of the Ministry of Environment is participating in the INCO 2026 Industrial Exhibition held on 13th, 14th , and 15th March 2026 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.

The exhibition was inaugurated with the participation of the Hon. Prime Minister, Dr.Harini Amarasuriya as the Chief Guest. The Director of Air Resources Management and the National Ozone Unit also attended the event as a distinguished guest.

Through this exhibition stall, the Ministry showcased initiatives promoting environmentally friendly and energy-efficient refrigeration and air conditioning technologies, while raising awareness on ozone layer protection and climate action in Sri Lanka.

The event provided a valuable platform to engage with industry professionals, engineers, students, and the public on the importance of sustainable cooling solutions for a greener future.




පරිසර අමාත්‍යාංශයේ වායු සම්පත් කළමනාකරණ සහ ජාතික ඕසෝන් ඒකකය 2026 මාර්තු 13, 14 සහ 15 යන දිනවල බණ්ඩාරනායක අනුස්මරණ ජාත්‍යන්තර සම්මන්ත්‍රණ ශාලාවේ පවත්වනු ලබන INCO 2026 කාර්මික ප්‍රදර්ශනයට සහභාගී වේ.

ප්‍රදර්ශනය ප්‍රධාන ආරාධිත අමුත්තා ලෙස ගරු අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය මහත්මියගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් ආරම්භ කරන ලදී. වායු සම්පත් කළමනාකරණ අධ්‍යක්ෂක සහ ජාතික ඕසෝන් ඒකකය ද මෙම අවස්ථාවට සම්භාවනීය ආරාධිත අමුත්තෙකු ලෙස සහභාගී විය.

මෙම ප්‍රදර්ශන කුටිය හරහා, අමාත්‍යාංශය පරිසර හිතකාමී සහ බලශක්ති-කාර්යක්ෂම ශීතකරණ සහ වායු සමීකරණ තාක්ෂණයන් ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමේ මුලපිරීම් ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරන අතර, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඕසෝන් ස්තර ආරක්ෂාව සහ දේශගුණික ක්‍රියාකාරකම් පිළිබඳ දැනුවත්භාවය වැඩි කිරීමට බලාපොරෝත්තු වේ.

හරිත අනාගතයක් සඳහා තිරසාර සිසිලන විසඳුම්වල වැදගත්කම පිළිබඳව කර්මාන්ත වෘත්තිකයන්, ඉංජිනේරුවන්, සිසුන් සහ මහජනතාව සමඟ සම්බන්ධ වීමට මෙම අවස්ථාව වටිනා වේදිකාවක් සපයන ලදී.

ජගත් ඕසෝන් දිනය අදයි 🌎

ජගත් ඕසෝන් දින ජාතික සැමරුම අද දින (16) පෙරවරුවේ දී ගරු පරිසර අමාත්‍ය වෛද්‍ය දම්මික පටබැඳි මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් සහ පරිසර නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ඇන්ටන් ජයකොඩි මහතාගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් පරිසර අමාත්‍යංශයේ දී පැවැත්විණ. . 2025 වසරේ ජගත් ඕසෝන් දින තේමාව වනුයේ, “වියානා සම්මුතියේ 40 වසරක දායකත්වය: විද්‍යාවෙන් ගෝලීය ක්‍රියාකාරීත්වයට” (40 years of the Vienna Convention: From Science to Global Action) යන්නයි.

පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ උපදේශනය යටතේ HFC සදහා විකල්ප ශීතකාරකයක් ලෙස හදුන්වා දුන් නව ශීතකාරක ගිනි ඇවිලළෙන සුළු /විෂ සහිත වන අතර: එම ශීතකාරක සහ ඒවා අඩංගු උපකරණ ආරක්ෂිතව හැසිරවීම සඳහා ජාතික ආරක්ෂක අවසාන ප්‍රමිතීන් කෙටුම්පත ශ්‍රී ලංකා ප්‍රමිති ආයතනය වෙත නිළ වශයෙන් බාර දීමත්, නව ශීතකාරක සහ තාක්ෂණය පිළිබද තෘතීයීක වෘත්තීය අධ්‍යාපන ක්ෂේත්‍රය දැනුවත් කිරීම සදහා පුහුණු කරුවන්ගේ සහ පුහුණු වන්නන්ගේ මාර්ගපෝදේශ තෘතීයීක වෘත්තීය අධ්‍යාපන කොමිෂන් සභාව විසින් පරිසර අමාත්‍යාංශය වෙත නිළ වශයෙන් බාර දීමත්, ශීතකරණ හා වායු සමන ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ ධාරිතා වර්ධනය කිරීම සදහා කාර්මික වෘත්තීය අධ්‍යාපන පුහුණු ආයතනයන් වැඩි දියුණු කිරීමට යන්ත්‍ර උපකරණ නිළ වශයෙන් බාර දීමත් මෙම අවස්ථාවේ දී සිදු කෙරිණ.

2025 වර්ෂයේ සැප්තැම්බර් 16 වන දින ජගත් ඕසෝන් දිනය සැමරුම් උත්සවය පරිසර අමාත්‍යාංශයේ වායු සම්පත් කළමනාකරණ හා ඕසෝන් ඒකකය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලදි. පරිසර අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ලේකම් කේ. ආර්. උඩුවාවල මහතා මෙන් ම පරිසර අමාත්‍යාංශ නිළධාරීන්, පාර්ශවකාර ආයතන නියෝජිතයින්, කාර්මික හා තාක්ෂණ විද්‍යාලයන්හි පුහුණු කාර්මිකයින්, බාලදක්ෂිකාවන් හා HCFC/HFC ආනයනකරුවන් සහභාගී වූහ. විද්වත් දේශනය මොරටුව ලංකා ජර්මානු කාර්මික අභ්‍යාස පුහුණු ආයතනයේ හිටපු විදුහල්පති එස්.පී.කේ. අමරසිංහ මහතා විසින් සිදු කරන ලදී. මෙම අවස්ථාවේ දී පරිසර ගීතය සහ ඕසෝන් ගීතය රචනා කරන ලද පරිසර අමාත්‍යංශයේ හිටු ලේකම්, ප්‍රවීණ ගී පද රචක සුනිල් සරත් පෙරේරා මහතා ඇගයීම සිදු කරන ලදී.

World Ozone Day National Celebration was held today 🌎

The national celebration of International Ozone Day was held today (16) at the Ministry of Environment, chaired by the Honorable Minister of Environment, Dr. Dhammika Patabendi, and with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Environment, Anton Jayakody. The theme for International Ozone Day 2025 is "40 years of the Vienna Convention: From Science to Global Action."

At this event, the following actions took place:
The official handover of the draft national safety standards to the Sri Lanka Standards Institution for the safe handling of new refrigerants—introduced as an alternative to HFCs with consultation from the University of Peradeniya, which are flammable/toxic, and the equipment containing them.
The official handover of trainer and trainee guides to the Ministry of Environment by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission. These guides aim to educate the tertiary vocational education sector on new refrigerants and technologies.

The official handover of machinery and equipment for upgrading technical vocational education and training institutions to enhance capacity in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector.
The International Ozone Day celebration on September 16, 2025, was organized by the Air Resource Management and Ozone Unit of the Ministry of Environment. The event was attended by Ministry of Environment Secretary K. R. Uduwavala, ministry officials, representatives from partner institutions, trained technicians from technical and technological colleges, Girl Scouts, and HCFC/HFC importers. The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. S.P.K. Amarasighe, former Principal of the Sri Lanka German Technical Training Institute in Moratuwa. At this event, tribute was also paid to Sunil Sarath Perera, the former Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, who composed the Environmental anthem and the Ozone song.
