මොස්කව් නුවර පැවැත්වෙන VI වන "Let’s Travel" ජාත්‍යන්තර සංචාරක සංසද සම්මේලනයේදී , රුසියානු සමූහාණ්ඩුවේ ආර්ථික සංවර්ධන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ගරු දිමිත්‍රි වක්රුකොව් (Dmitry Vakhrukov) මහතා හමුවීමට අවස්ථාව ලැබුණි.

එහිදී අපගේ සාකච්ඡා ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් යොමු වූයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සහ රුසියාව අතර සංචාරක සහයෝගීතාව ශක්තිමත් කිරීම කෙරෙහිය. රුසියානු සංචාරකයින් සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ලබා දෙන දින 30 ක නොමිලේ වීසා පහසුකම, දුරස්ථව සේවය කරන වෘත්තිකයන් වෙනුවෙන් අලුතින් හඳුන්වා දුන් 'ඩිජිටල් නෝමෑඩ් වීසා' (Digital Nomad Visa) ක්‍රමය සහ අපගේ සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ පවතින ඉහළ ආයෝජන අවස්ථා පිළිබඳව විශේෂ අවදානය ලබාදුනෙමි. .

දෙරට අතර සංචාරක හුවමාරුව තවදුරටත් ප්‍රවර්ධනය කරමින් සහ ජනතාව අතර පවතින සබඳතා වඩාත් ගැඹුරු කරමින්, 2026-2027 කාලය තුළ ප්‍රමුඛ පෙළේ සංචාරක ක්‍රියාකරුවන් සහ මාධ්‍ය නියෝජිතයන් වෙනුවෙන් ක්ෂේත්‍ර අධ්‍යයන චාරිකා (FAM tours) සංවිධානය කිරීමට දෙපාර්ශවයේම එකඟතාවය පළ විය.

Sri Lanka–Russia: Building stronger bridges through tourism and partnership.

On the sidelines of the VI International Tourism Forum “Let’s Travel” in Moscow, I had the privilege of meeting Hon. Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

Our discussions focused on strengthening tourism cooperation between Sri Lanka and Russia. I highlighted Sri Lanka’s 30‑day free visa facility for Russian travellers, the newly introduced Digital Nomad Visa Scheme for remote‑working professionals, and promising investment opportunities in our tourism sector.

Both sides agreed to facilitate familiarization (FAM) tours for leading tour operators and media representatives during 2026–2027, further promoting tourism exchanges and deepening people‑to‑people connections between our nations.

මොස්කව් නුවර පැවැති 6 වන "Let’s Travel" ජාත්‍යන්තර සංචාරක සංසදයේදී, රුසියානු සමූහාණ්ඩුවේ නියෝජ්‍ය අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය ගරු දිමිත්‍රි චර්නිෂෙන්කෝ (Dmitry Chernyshenko) මහතා, තානාපතිනි ශෝබිනී ගුණසේකර මහත්මිය සමඟ එක්ව ශ්‍රී ලංකා ජාතික ප්‍රදර්ශන කුටිය වෙත පිළිගැනීමට මට ගෞරවය හිමිවිය.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පොහොසත් සංස්කෘතික උරුමය සහ සුහදශීලී ආගන්තුක සත්කාරය මැනවින් විදහා දක්වමින්, සාම්ප්‍රදායික උඩරට නර්තන කණ්ඩායමකගේ ඉතා විචිත්‍රවත් නර්තන සංදර්ශනයකින් මෙම පිළිගැනීමේ අවස්ථාව ආරම්භ විය.

අප අතර ඇති වූ කෙටි සාකච්ඡාවේදී, ද්විපාර්ශ්වික සංචාරක සහයෝගීතාව ශක්තිමත් කිරීම සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සහ රුසියාව අතර සංචාරක හුවමාරුව ඉහළ නැංවීම සඳහා වන නව අවස්ථා පිළිබඳව අපගේ අවධානය යොමු විය. රුසියානු සංචාරකයින් සඳහා වඩාත් ප්‍රියතම ගමනාන්තයක් ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ස්ථානගත කිරීමට ඇති සූදානම මම එහිදී අවධාරණය කළ අතර, දෙරටේ ජනතාව අතර ඇති සබඳතා තවදුරටත් වර්ධනය කිරීම පිළිබඳවද සාකච්ඡා කළෙමි.

Sri Lanka Shines at Russia “Let’s Travel” — building bridges of tourism and friendship.

At the VI International Tourism Forum “Let’s Travel” in Moscow, I had the honor of welcoming Hon. Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, to the Sri Lanka National Pavilion together with Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera.

The welcome began with the vibrant performance of traditional Kandyan dancers, showcasing Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality.

In our brief engagement, we discussed strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation and exploring new opportunities to enhance tourist exchanges between Sri Lanka and Russia. I emphasized Sri Lanka’s readiness to position itself as a preferred destination for Russian travelers, while also deepening people‑to‑people connections between our nations.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංචාරක හා හෝටල් කළමනාකරණ ආයතනය (SLITHM) සහ මහජන චීන සමූහාණ්ඩුවේ සංස්කෘතික හා සංචාරක පරිපාලන මධ්‍යම ඇකඩමිය (CACTA) අතර අත්සන් තැබුණු ඓතිහාසික අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුම් අත්සන් කිරීමේ උත්සවයේ මුලසුන දැරීමට අද දින මට වරප්‍රසාදය හිමිවිය.

මෙම සන්ධිස්ථානගත හවුල්කාරිත්වය, සංචාරක සහ ආගන්තුක සත්කාර ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ අධ්‍යාපනික ද්විපාර්ශ්වික සහයෝගීතාව ශක්තිමත් කිරීමේ නව පරිච්ඡේදයක් සලකුණු කරයි. එමඟින් අපගේ සිසුන්ට සහ පීඨ සාමාජිකයින්ට අධ්‍යයන හුවමාරු වැඩසටහන්, කාර්ය මණ්ඩල පුහුණුවීම්, ඒකාබද්ධ පර්යේෂණ, විෂයමාලා වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම් මෙන්ම පුළුල් ජාත්‍යන්තර අත්දැකීම් ලබාගැනීම සඳහා අවස්ථා විවෘත වනු ඇත.

ගෝලීය වශයෙන් තරඟකාරී සංචාරක ශ්‍රම බලකායක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමට, නවෝත්පාදනයන් දිරිගැන්වීමට සහ ජාත්‍යන්තර කර්මාන්ත ප්‍රමිතීන්ට අනුකූල වන පරිදි අපගේ තරුණ පරපුර හැඩගැස්වීමට මෙවැනි සහයෝගීතාවන් අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වන බව මම තරයේ විශ්වාස කරමි. ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සහ චීනය එක්ව, දෙරටේම සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ අනාගතයට යහපතක් සැලසෙන පරිදි දැනුමේ සහ විශිෂ්ටත්වයේ පාලම් ගොඩනඟමින් සිටී.

Today I had the privilege of chairing the historic signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) and the Central Academy of Culture and Tourism Administration (CACTA) of the People’s Republic of China.

This landmark partnership marks a new chapter in strengthening bilateral cooperation in tourism and hospitality education. It will open doors for academic exchanges, staff training, joint research, curriculum enhancement, and greater international exposure for our students and faculty.

I firmly believe that such collaborations are vital to shaping a globally competitive tourism workforce, fostering innovation, and preparing our youth to meet international industry standards. Together, Sri Lanka and China are building bridges of knowledge and excellence that will benefit the future of tourism in both nations.

For the first time in history, Sri Lanka has proudly emerged as one of the most celebrated participants at the Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) 2026, held in South Korea. Over the past two days, our delegation showcased the very best of Sri Lanka’s tourism, culture, and hospitality — earning four elegant and remarkable awards and positioning our nation as the best-performing team and country throughout the exhibition.

SITF 2026 හිදී ශ්‍රී ලංකා–කොරියානු මිත්‍රත්වය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම!

සෝල් ජාත්‍යන්තර සංචාරක ප්‍රදර්ශනයට (SITF 2026) සහභාගී වූ අවස්ථාවේදී, දකුණු කොරියාවේ හිටපු ජාතික ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යවරයෙකු මෙන්ම ගෞරවණීය ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ දේශපාලනඥයෙකු ද වන ක්වොන් යන්ග්-හේ (Kwon Young-hae) මහතා හමුවීමට ලැබීම මා ලැබූ විශාල ගෞරවයකි. ඔහුගේ විශිෂ්ට සේවා කාලය සහ කොරියාවේ ජාතික ආරක්ෂාව මෙන්ම සංවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් කැප කළ ජීවිතය, ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සහ කොරියාව අතර මිත්‍රත්වය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම උදෙසා මෙම හමුව සැබවින්ම අර්ථවත් පියවරක් බවට පත් කරයි.

SITF හි ප්‍රධාන උත්සවයට සමගාමීව, ඉහළ මට්ටමේ ව්‍යාපාරික සහ ආයෝජන රැස්වීම් කිහිපයක් ද පැවැත්විණි. එහිදී ප්‍රමුඛ පෙළේ කොරියානු ආයෝජකයින් රැසක් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය සඳහා ආයෝජනය කිරීමට සිය දැඩි කැමැත්ත ප්‍රකාශ කළ බව සතුටින් දන්වා සිටිමි. මෙම උනන්දුව තුළින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ප්‍රමුඛතම සංචාරක ගමනාන්තයක් ලෙස පිළිගැනීමට ඇති විශ්වාසය වර්ධනය වන බව පිළිබිඹු වන අතර, එය තිරසාර හවුල්කාරිත්වයන් සඳහා නව අවස්ථා විවෘත කරයි.

සංචාරක නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා ලෙස මෙම සම්බන්ධතාවන් ඉතා උණුසුම්ව පිළිගන්නා අතර, මෙවැනි සම්භාවනීය මිතුරන්ගේ සහ හවුල්කරුවන්ගේ සහයෝගය ඇතිව ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රය ඉදිරියට ගෙනයාම වෙනුවෙන් සැමවිටම කැපවී සිටිමි.

Strengthening Sri Lanka–Korea Friendship at SITF 2026

It was a great honour to meet Mr. Kwon Young-hae, former Minister of National Defense of South Korea and a highly respected senior statesman, during my participation at the Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF 2026). His distinguished career and lifelong dedication to Korea’s national security and development make this meeting a truly meaningful step in strengthening the friendship between Sri Lanka and Korea.

Alongside the main event at SITF, several high-level business and investment meetings were held in parallel. I am pleased to share that many leading Korean investors expressed their strong willingness to invest in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. This enthusiasm reflects the growing confidence in Sri Lanka as a premier destination and opens new opportunities for sustainable partnerships.

As Deputy Minister of Tourism, I warmly welcome these engagements and remain committed to advancing Sri Lanka’s tourism sector with the support of such distinguished friends and partners.
