Southampton International Boat Show 2026 ⚓

Always a good time to be in Southampton with so much happening across the marine industry.

Diagnosing a battery wiring problem on an older 55ft Viking.

I’m going through the original wiring diagrams before returning aboard to continue testing and tracing the system. Sometimes the most useful part of fault-finding happens before you even step back onto the boat. ⚓

Not every watermaker service comes with air conditioning… ☀️🥵

Yesterday's job was a Spectra Newport 400C tucked away below deck. Plenty of fault finding, not much room to work — and definitely no shortage of heat!

All part of keeping watermakers running in the Caribbean.

A small problem, a custom solution.

We needed a neat way to mount this AIS GPS antenna, but there wasn’t an off-the-shelf bracket that gave us the installation we wanted.

So we made one.

Designed in-house and 3D printed specifically for the job, the finished bracket gives the antenna a clean, secure mounting while keeping the installation looking professional.

Our 3D printer is becoming another genuinely useful tool in the Regis Electronics workshop — particularly when a job calls for a bracket, spacer, mount or small component that simply isn’t available off the shelf.

Design ➡️ Print ➡️ Install.

Marine watermakers tend to live in some of the least accessible spaces onboard — so sometimes getting to the equipment is half the job! 😅💧⚓

Not every repair can be done in place.
This yacht carried twin Schenker ZEN 100 watermakers. One developed a fault that required complete removal from the engine room and bench repair before being reinstalled and recommissioned.
Sometimes the hardest part of the job is simply getting the equipment out without disturbing everything around it.
At Regis Electronics we've been diagnosing and repairing marine systems since 1999—whether onboard or back in the workshop.

🔍 Thinking beyond the obvious.

This Viking 65 presented an unusual electronic control issue that required a deep dive into wiring diagrams, interface modules and system logic.

It wasn't a typical marine electronics job, but solving complex technical problems rarely follows a script.

Sometimes experience isn't about knowing the answer immediately—it's knowing how to find it.
