As we enter the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season, CARILEC urges all utilities and stakeholders across the Caribbean to remain vigilant, prepared, and resilient.
In our region, preparedness is not seasonal, it is a continuous commitment to protecting lives, strengthening infrastructure, and ensuring rapid recovery when disaster strikes. The lessons of recent years continue to remind us that it only takes one storm to test our systems and our resolve.
Through regional collaboration and the CARILEC Disaster Assistance Programme (CDAP), utilities continue to demonstrate the power of unity, mutual support, and shared expertise in times of crisis.
As the season begins, let us continue working together to strengthen resilience, enhance preparedness, and stand ready to support one another when it matters most.
Together, we prepare. Together, we respond. Together, we build resilience.

Leaders from CARILEC member utilities participated in a site visit to Dominica Electricity Services Limitedโs Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Facility in Roseau, Dominica.
During the visit, participants toured the operational battery storage facility and engaged directly with engineers, gaining valuable firsthand insight into how battery energy storage is already strengthening grid operations across the Caribbean.
The BESS facility plays a critical role in supporting grid stability, renewable energy integration, and the future integration of Dominicaโs geothermal plant, helping prepare the grid for increased baseload renewable energy on the island.
A key takeaway from the visit was the clear demonstration that grid-scale storage is already improving flexibility and reliability on island power systems. Participants also benefited greatly from the practical, on-site technical exchanges, which offered learning opportunities that go beyond theory and presentation.
Site visits such as this remain an essential part of knowledge sharing, connecting strategic dialogue with the infrastructure, people, and expertise driving resilient energy systems across the region.
The Caribbean energy transition is actively underway, and we are proud to see Dominica at the forefront of this transformation.
