"As men who pride ourselves as being leaders and as being strong, as being responsible, when are we going to stop blaming everyone else for our inability to be vulnerable and start taking responsibility to show true strength, confidence and leadership to open ourselves up to being vulnerable. I absolutely abhor the narrative that no one cares about men because what are we really going into our relationships and friendships for if we can't feel safe in these spaces? It is your responsibility (and I'm speaking to both men and women as individuals) to build a community that values true vulnerability. It is your responsibility as an individual to surround yourself with people who care about you. If they don't, you build a new one. I know it is easier said than done and I understand that trauma makes it difficult for some people to open up. But if you don't take responsibility for it, how can you expect anyone else to?
Stop expecting anything from anyone that you are not willing to do for yourself.
