The Government of Saint Lucia is taking another significant step in its digital transformation journey with plans to establish a cross-sector regulatory sandbox for Digital Identity and Financial Technology, or FinTech. The initiative, supported by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, aims to provide a safe testing environment for innovative digital solutions before they are introduced into the wider marketplace.
Saint Lucia is moving to establish what is expected to be the first Cross-Sector Regulatory Sandbox in the OECS, creating a controlled environment to test emerging financial technologies and digital solutions. Government officials, regulators and industry stakeholders are examining how the proposed framework can encourage responsible innovation while ensuring appropriate regulatory oversight, security and consumer protection.
Saint Lucia is taking another step toward creating a safer environment for innovation in financial technology and digital services, with government officials, regulators and other stakeholders meeting for a two-day consultation on the development of a Cross-Sector Regulatory Sandbox. The workshop opened at Secrets Resort on September 3, with discussions focused on how new technologies can be tested under controlled conditions while protecting consumers and strengthening regulatory oversight.

Hosted by the Department of Public Sector Modernization, Stakeholders came together at Secrets St. Lucia Resort for a two-day consultation on the proposed Cross-Sector Regulatory Sandbox for Fintech and Digital Identity. Supported by ECLAC, the workshop explored how Saint Lucia can encourage responsible innovation while strengthening regulation, security, consumer protection and collaboration across key sectors.
