This pyramid consists of foods that can be consumed by diabetic individuals. In the Caribbean, some these foods may be difficult to source or purchase. This is where our local alternative foods come in. Some of these foods can be purchased at the roadside, local food markets and the local grocery store.
If you’d like to go the extra mile, why not just grow some of your own food! 👩🏾🌾
Some Local Foods include:
Christophine
Cucumbers 🥒
Cashew nuts
Watermelon 🍉
Pumpkin 🎃
Pigeon peas 🫛
Pineapple 🍍
Avocado 🥑
