ACCESS GRANTED

Twenty eight students of the Anse la Raye RC Infant School are all smiles having received brand new tablet devices sponsored by the through support from Global Partnership for Education.

This donation of tablets will provide students the opportunity to access several apps, videos and other online resources to improve learning.

Teachers now have the benefit of using innovative ways to incorporate those devices into their teaching so that learning becomes more meaningful and tailored for each child.

During the pandemic, many students wee disadvantaged, having no access to technology to work from home.

This donation is welcomed and we at the Anse la Raye RC Infant School look forward to achieving our goal of ensuring that all students have access to a technological device.

Thank you OECS, Global Partnership for Education, Ministry of Education and all partners who were instrumental in making this project possible.

Wednesday, 6th April - National Library Outreach Day

National Library Week is being celebrated in Saint Lucia from 3rd to 9th April 2022, under the theme “Connect with Your Library”. This global theme promotes the idea that libraries provide opportunities for persons to: connect with each other, utilize technology, access information resources, share ideas, and explore the vast array of information available. The theme is an explicit call to action — an invitation for everyone to join, visit, and support their libraries.

One of the activities scheduled for National Library Week is Library Outreach Day. Library Outreach Day provides an opportunity for library advocates to move out into the community to help promote literacy and support language and literacy skills development. On 6th April 2022, library staff visited four schools in Educational Four to engage students in a series of fun, reading activities and to make a presentation of story books to the Principals for inclusion in their school libraries. The schools visited included:
La Croix Maingot Combined School
Roseau R C Combined School
Millet Infant School
Anse La Raye Infant School

The team comprised of the Librarian, staff of the Hunter J. Francois Library, students and administrative staff of the SALCC. The Hunter J. Francois Library hopes to continue building relations with the schools in this district and to offer any assistance necessary aimed at improving children’s literacy development as well as developing, transforming and preserving school libraries in the community.

To learn more about this initiative visit the Library’s Calendar of Activities Page: https://www.salcc.edu.lc/library/library-week-2022/index.php

WEEK IN REVIEW
At Anse la Raye RC Infant School we understand the role that technology plays in improving the quality of education that children receive and providing experiences to students that they otherwise would not receive, although vicariously.
Much of the teaching that has been done during this pandemic has been through the use of technology with online platforms. Now that students have returned to the classroom, we continue to employ many of those practices knowing that they will be beneficial to our students.
In every classroom whiteboards have been installed, not just for writing purposes, but also to serve as screens for projecting images, videos and worksheets for students.
The use of the projector in the classroom provides several opportunities for both teachers and students.
