With a heavy heart, we have to announce that Bardo is closing its current location.
For us, both as owners and management and as a community, Bardo has been a love affair. In the 15 years since it opened, Bardo has become an integral part of the cultural fabric of Beirut. We love the Rue de Mexique location and cherish the fact that our presence there was a continuation of more than fifty years of history for that place.
We are strengthened by the idea of the concept of ‘Bardo,’ a Tibetan word that means ‘transitory state.’ Our run here has come to its end. Bardo of Rue de Mexique has played out its time, but it lives on in our hearts.
While we remain open to future experiences, whichever form they may take, we are also confident that within Bardo’s community, there are young and emerging voices that have both the strength and the will to carry over the torch of Bardo’s role, so essential and critical for the life and everyday struggle of our society.
