“As Vice-President for Public Relations, it was inevitable that I should have been called upon to speak about MEA to all kinds of people on all sorts of occasions, particularly during our recent troubles. I have never lost an opportunity to spread the word about MEA, recalling incidents in its colourful history and describing many of the notable people who were, in one way or another, associated with it. But it was not until quite recently that I thought I might try to make a more permanent record, a record that would be partly a factual history of MEA and partly a personal account of my life in MEA…”- Wafic Ajouz

Flight Against Time is a moving story about the immigrant experience. An elderly couple leave their village in Lebanon to visit their children and grandchildren now living in the new world: Prince Edward Island, Canada. They find a world of peace and great comfort, but despite the war back home, the old man longs for his small village and a way of life deeply etched in his heart.
Nasrallah skilfully weaves truth and imagination to create a story rich in human emotion and psychological insight. The novel stands as witness to a time and its people, a mirror of the whole cultural and historical movement that is Lebanon of the present.
•••Emily Nasrallah (1931–2018), born in Kfeir, South Lebanon, was a Lebanese novelist, journalist, and women’s rights activist. She studied in Beirut and graduated from the American University of Beirut with a degree in Education. Over her long career, she published novels, short stories, children’s books, and non-fiction exploring Lebanese village life, war, and women’s experiences. Her debut novel Birds of September (1962) won multiple literary awards, and her works have been widely translated and internationally recognized. She is also known as part of the “Beirut decentrists,” writers who remained in Lebanon during the civil war and documented its realities.•••

The contribution of the Lebanese diaspora to national life has been remarkable in many fields. However, its role in the film industry has not received enough attention or proper documentation from specialists. This gap in the history of Mexican cinema is addressed through the extensive research carried out by Dr. Carlos Martínez Assad, who presents his findings in an engaging way in this special bilingual edition: Lebanese in Mexican Cinema / Libaneses en el cine mexicano
Names such as Mauricio Garcés, Hermanos Bichir, Gaspar Henaine, and José María Yazpik among actors; Salma Hayek, Johanna Murillo, and María Sorté among actresses; Miguel Zacarías among directors; Antonio Matouk, Mario Zacarías, and Dulce Kuri among producers; Antonio Helú and Rafael Villaseñor among screenwriters; as well as Alfredo Bojalil, Leonora Mar, and Antonio Badú among musicians, plus cinematographer Tufic Yazbek, and many others of Lebanese origin, have contributed greatly both in front of and behind the camera. This book celebrates the contribution of Lebanese immigrants and their descendants who helped shape the collective imagination of Mexican cinema.

This book explores Palestinian fallahi cross-stitch embroidery, a traditional craft made by village women and used to decorate clothing and household items. It explains how each region developed its own distinct patterns that can often identify specific villages.
The embroidery is shown as a heritage passed from mother to daughter, learned from a young age and used in dresses, wedding clothes, and home textiles. The book also describes how, after war and displacement in the 20th century, women began producing and selling embroidery to support their families.
Overall, it presents fallahi embroidery as both a traditional art form and a symbol of Palestinian cultural identity and continuity.
