Hi everyone - particularly those of you currently living in Lebanon! đ±đ§ Weâve been having some conversations around Solar Energy and would really appreciate it if you could complete this short anonymous surveyđđ:
đ https://forms.gle/oPb64mb9PiTaA6n27
Our initial aim is to assess peopleâs awareness on & interest in solar energy in Lebanon, share the data publicly and reach out to solution providers depending on the responses that we get.
Weâd love to know what you think - even if you canât take the survey / arenât based in Lebanon atm đ So please share your thoughts with us, thank you!

Today and every day since August 4th 2020, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by the Beirut blast, and those who have been taken from us.
Our Open Map Lebanon community was created to help relief efforts and to advocate for data transparency and accountability. We will keep working to build a more stable tomorrow for Lebanon.

Interested in understanding the socio-economic impact of the Beirut blast on surrounding neighborhoods? Check out some work the UNDP Accelerator Labs team in collaboration with Matthew Ng, Lilian Abou Zeki, and Melda Salhab from our community:
https://www.lb.undp.org/content/lebanon/en/home/accelerator-labs/socio-economic-impact-assessment/households---vulnerability-and-accessibility.html
Their insightful study offers a suggestion as to how Beirutâs neighborhood could look like when taking into account the population and the cityâs street network. âŹ
âȘThe exploration is based on a compilation of spatial data processing techniques including population analysis, uâŹrban morphology, & accessibility analysis.
âȘNote - under âHouseholds Levelâ in the menu:
âą The âVulnerabilityâ section with the interactive map data story highlights which neighborhoods are the most vulnerable from a household or a small business perspective.
âą The âAccessibilityâ section provides interactive visualizations of accessibility to hospitals and schools in Beirut.
âą The âNeighborhood Insightsâ section allows you to interactively explore the data for Medawar, Achrafieh, Bachoura, Zoukak el-Blatt, and Remeil.
âą The âWhat defines a neighborhoodâ section suggests an alternative to our neighborhood boundaries by using machine learning on street network and population data.

Lebanon COVID-19: Observations from Movement Data, by Maroun Bou Sleiman:
âAs seen here, the initial response to state of emergency measures varies between regions: There is a general degradation in âcomplianceâ as judged by decreased immobility. And some regions are almost back to normal, pre-lockdown levels.â
The data is open to all & can be found via: https://data.humdata.org/dataset/movement-range-maps
