One of the key aspects of Preventive Medicine is pest management. This little guy is a Chinese red headed centipede (Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans) found on Camp Carroll by Chimera Soldiers during a routine inspection. It can grow up to 8 inches. It is venomous with a painful bite, but rarely fatal in humans. To help prevent pests like this: 1) Keep your area clean 2) eliminate food sources 3) seal entryways and 4) control moisture.

Chimera Soldiers and families took a trip to Goeje Island to visit the Historic Prisoner of War Camp. We used this as an opportunity to learn more about the rich and vibrant culture in Goeje, and build camaraderie with our KATUSA'S as they shared their rich culture with us. We also used this time to reflect on the history of the Korean war, our role in the present, and plan for the future.
