ប៉ុន្តែ បើទោះបីជាភ្លេងខ្មែរមានតម្លៃ យ៉ាងខ្ពង់ខ្ពស់ ក៏ដោយ បច្ចុប្បន្ននេះវិស័យភ្លេងប្រពៃណីខ្មែរ កំពុងប្រឈមនឹងការធ្លាក់ចុះយ៉ាងគំហុក។ តាមរយះការសំណេះសំណាលជាមួយអ្នកលេងភ្លេងជើង ចាស់មួយរូប គាត់បានបញ្ជាក់ថា ការអញ្ជើញអោយចូលសម្តែងក្នុងពិធីនានាមានចំនួនតិចតួច ហើយការសម្តែងក៏ក្លាយជារឿងកម្រទៅៗ​ និងការរកចំណូលតាមរយៈអាជីពមួយនេះក៏កាន់តែធ្លាក់ចុះ។
