Dairy farming is good and very profitable.. though it's labour intensive unlike pig farming which is capital intensive.

Free advice: You have no business buying a cow at more than 150k if you are from some parts of the Country like Meru and laikipia where a litre of milk is more than 45 bob.
This cow is used to taking 0ver 6kg Dairy meal daily in Kiambu but the price of milk there is the same.
Pro Tip: If you don't have the patience to start with young heifers, consider buying cows from your neighbourhood that have fairly good genetics and feed them professionally. Their production can surprise you!

Greatest opportunities in dairy and pig farming are always distractions in disguise. Someone will come with ksh500,000 in your farm only to realize you have sold the best breeds that could have helped you in keeping and progressing your farm. You lost focus on your farm at the exchange of money. 500k is a lot of money to lose but it's a big distraction to the farm. This is my advice to those who want to grow their farm. Avoid these snares that comes in disguise only to make your farm stunted.
