Prof. Laban Ayiro

I officially opened the 5th Learning and Design Lab in Kenya at Daystar University , co-hosted with the University of South Wales, UK, under the UK–Kenya University Partnerships funded by British Council Kenya . This Lab will deepen the value of international academic partnership in promoting innovation, research, student engagement, and enabling the co-creation and co-design of solutions to contemporary challenges, together with our industry partner, Carbon Zero Mobility. I convey sincere appreciation to the UK government, British Council, the University of South Wales, Circle Innovation, and Carbon Zero Mobility for this collaboration.

It was an honor to consult with H.E. Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o on the forthcoming RAO2026 Memorial Conference on Communication and Politics, which Daystar University will host in August 2026 at KICC, Nairobi.

The conference, under the theme “Future-Proofing Democracy: Resilience, Adaptation and Opportunity,” will provide a vital platform for scholars, leaders, policymakers, and citizens to reflect on the enduring legacy of the Right Honourable Raila Amollo Odinga and to engage the continuing task of strengthening democracy, accountable governance, and resilient institutions in Kenya and beyond.

What a powerful show of resilience and purpose!
Despite the heavy rains in Nairobi, large numbers have turned up today for the LAP Run organized by Daystar University Student Association , demonstrating extraordinary commitment to the cause at Daystar University . We are especially honored to be graced by the legendary Kipchoge Keino, whose presence has added great inspiration to this memorable day.

Today, Patrick Odongo , one of our outstanding student-athletes, came to say hello and share his progress. It was encouraging to hear how well he is doing in both academics and rugby, where he continues to shine while representing Daystar University and our country with pride.

Patrick is a resilient and determined young man, and it’s always a joy to see our students grow and succeed.

At Daystar University, we believe in balancing academic excellence with co-curricular activities. We provide a supportive environment where students can explore their interests, develop their passions, and thrive in all areas of life.

I encourage all our students to be proactive, engage fully in university life, and make the most of the resources available.

I am deeply honoured that the Daystar University Student Association is hosting The L.A.P Run (Laban Ayiro Peter Run) Half-Marathon in my name. I receive this honour with gratitude. I would love for this to be a day where we come together as one community: students, alumni, partners, neighbours, and friends across Kenya. On Saturday, 7 March 2026, we will run for a cause that speaks to the very soul of Daystar; supporting persons living with disabilities and the underprivileged within our community. During my visit to Houston, Texas, USA, I held highly productive and collaborative meetings with our partner institutions. We agreed on priority areas to strengthen cooperation in teaching, research, innovation, and institutional development.I appreciate the warm hospitality and look forward to the next steps.

Yesterday at Daystar University , I had the privilege of hosting President Michael Lindsay, PhD, President Taylor University for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding that deepens our shared commitment to academic excellence, faith informed scholarship, and global engagement. This partnership will support student exchange opportunities, faculty and staff collaboration, joint research and innovation initiatives, and expanded cross-cultural learning experiences.

What a tragedy. He represented both the Luhya and national aspirations in the political arena. He epitomized courage, generosity and determination. He truly lifted our aspirations as a people.
