📢 We had the pleasure of hosting the World Bank and the AICCRA teams. The visit provided an opportunity to highlight ICPAC’s mandate, services, and regional leadership in advancing climate prediction and early warning across Eastern Africa. We also reflected on AICCRA’s remarkable contributions and achievements over the past five years in enhancing climate resilience through innovation, partnerships, and the co-production of climate information for decision-making.
👉🏾 The programme included a brief overview of ICPAC and AICCRA’s contributions, highlighted key priorities for the next phase of AICCRA, and concluded with a tour of the ICPAC Situation Room and Server Room, demonstrating the systems and infrastructure that support climate monitoring and early warning in the region.
👉🏾We look forward to continued collaboration to strengthen climate resilience and deliver greater impact for communities.

We are pleased to host a high-level delegation from the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda (Disaster Preparedness), the Ministry of Water and Environment, Uganda, and the Department of Meteorological Service, Uganda, and key national partners for a technical exchange visit at IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC).
Co-organized with Africa and the Water at the Heart of Climate Action initiative, the visit focuses on strengthening Uganda's disaster risk management and early warning capabilities. Key areas of collaboration include the establishment of a national Situation Room, enhancement of hazard monitoring and forecasting systems, and strengthening institutional and technical capacities for risk-informed decision-making.
This partnership reflects our shared commitment to advancing , building climate resilience, and translating science into action to protect lives, livelihoods, and development gains across Africa.

Today, ICPAC hosted IDRC and ICPALD to review progress on the Extreme Heat Science and PASSAGE projects.
Key achievements include the development of an extreme heat monitoring and early warning tool for the Greater Horn of Africa and the successful delivery of three cross-border Sub-Regional Climate Outlook Forums (Sub-COFs 3, 4, and 5) serving pastoral communities in the Karamoja, Marsabit–Borana, and Mandera clusters.
Through these forums, seasonal forecasts now reach cross-border communities as co-produced advisories that combine scientific and indigenous knowledge, delivered in local languages to support timely decisions on agriculture, livestock, and early action.
We thank IDRC for its support through the CLARE programme, and ICPALD, the University of Sussex, and all consortium partners for their collaboration in strengthening early warning
and anticipatory action for pastoralist livelihoods.

🌍☔️🌊🍃🎤 Climate action is not a solo mission—it requires strong collaboration among scientists, policymakers, local leaders, communities, and the media. But how do we connect these vital stakeholders?
The answer lies in the media as they translate complex climate science into accessible, actionable information. Without it, critical data, insights, and partnerships can remain disconnected, limiting their impact on the people who need them most.
WISER PASS-EA is strengthening climate services to reduce risks and build resilient communities across Africa by enhancing the quality, accessibility, and application of climate services. The project, supported by , promotes co-production, equity, innovation, and actionable science to ensure that climate information is relevant, inclusive, and effective for decision-making at all levels.
Collison Lore, a Regional User Engagement Expert, explains how bridging the gap between stakeholders is transforming climate resilience efforts and helping strengthen climate resilience across the region.
