2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency working towards #zerohunger.

We help crisis-affected people access nutritious food while empowering communities to grow and access food amidst a changing climate. WFP has traditionally provided life-saving relief food to assist vulnerable populations in the ASALs and refugees. However, with the rising frequency and severity of climate shocks, this approach is no longer sustainable. To build long-term resilience, WFP in Kenya

The school meals programme has grown across the country, supporting learning where it’s needed most. 🍛

For many children, a meal at school means the chance to focus, learn, and thrive.

That is why World Food Programme is partnering with the government to support school meals this term in Wajir and Marsabit counties. 📚✍️

Inspired by nature. For climate. For our future. 🌍

📍In Wajir County, the Bullagows Resilience Project is demonstrating how nature-based solutions can help communities adapt to climate shocks. Through sustainable land restoration techniques such as half-moons and zai pits, a once-degraded landscape is being revitalised, with thriving pasture for livestock and productive farms growing crops such as onions and tomatoes. 🍅🧅

Supported by KOICA Kenya Office , the County Government of Wajir, and the World Food Programme (WFP) this initiative is helping more than 2,000 households to strengthen their food security, diversify their livelihoods and build resilience to drought. With solar-powered irrigation in place and plans to replant indigenous trees, communities are working towards protecting natural resources while creating opportunities for future generations.

By growing their own food and restoring ecosystems, the Bullagows community is successfully building drought resilience and increasing their incomes. 💸

ver heard of the PD Hearth approach? It’s a community‑centred solution that uses locally available, affordable ingredients to fight malnutrition.

Through this approach, caregivers learn how to prepare nutritious meals using foods they already have access to, building practical skills they can sustain long after the training ends. 🍛🍉

Hellen, a mother from Nairobi, is one of those who has embraced this journey. After taking part in the training, she is now better equipped to nourish her children and support their healthy growth. Her story ⤵️
