๐ข Exciting Opportunity!
We are pleased to share with you that our partner at IVCC (Innovative Vector Control Consortium) has launched a call for proposals to advance vector control tools for malaria by addressing the critical gaps in the existing toolbox.
While current methods primarily target indoor mosquito behavior, weโre looking for Proof of Concept (PoC) projects that hat target aspects of the mosquito lifecycle beyond indoor feeding and resting.
This is a chance for stakeholders across geographies and disciplines to contribute to the malaria fight with fresh ideas and technologies.
Apply now or share this with your networks to help us reach a global audience: https://www.ivcc.com/call-for-proposals-vector-control-toolbox-for-malaria/

On 14 November 2024, PAMCA in collaboration with the MalariaGEN at Wellcome Sanger Institute hosted a thought provoking symposium on Malaria Vector Genomics Surveillance in Africa โ a Pan-African led initiative aimed at advancing our understanding of Anopheles vector genetics for improved Malaria control across sub-Saharan Africa at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH)
๐ข Exciting updates from !
Weโre thrilled to share that the PAMCA in collaboration with the MalariaGEN at Wellcome Sanger Institute is hosting a symposium on Malaria Vector Genomics Surveillance in Africa โ a Pan-African led initiative aimed at advancing our understanding of Anopheles vector genetics for improved Malaria control across sub-Saharan Africa.
๐๐๐ญ๐ & ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐: Thursday 14 November 2024 at 3pm US central time/9pm UK/12am EAT
As mosquitoes adapt rapidly under intense selection pressure from conventional insecticides, new tools are essential to understand the genomic drivers behind these changes.
With a line-up of 5 scientific talks from โ Fatoumata SECK, Sanjay Curtis Nagi, PhD, Dennis Tristan, Rosine Z. Wolie, Ph.D., and Luna Kamau- the symposium led by Eric Ochomo & Alistair Miles will present:
๐นProgress in genomic surveillance across multiple countries and its influence on vector control.
๐น Capacity-building initiatives for vector researchers across Africa.
Donโt miss this opportunity to explore how genomics data can drive evidence-based updates in Malaria vector control and operational guidelines.
If youโre not attending, be sure to check out our updates for insights on how African-led research is influencing the future of Malaria control and vector genomics.
Webinar Registration Alert!
Our Partners- The RAFT (Resilience Against Future Threats through Vector Control) research consortium would like to invite you to their 5th webinar in the Tech Talk series on: Emerging threats in a changing world, Aedes & Anopheles stephensi: Could we eradicate Anopheles stephensi in Africa?
Date: Wednesday 20 November 2024 at 11.00 UK time.

Together with our partners at MalariaGEN, we are pleased to announce that the call for application for the online training course in for of African malaria vectors is now open for application. This course is delivered jointly the PAMCA Pan-African Mosquito Control Association- and by the Malaria Genomic Epidemiology Network (MalariaGEN)
๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ฏ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐
The goal of this course is to introduce some practical techniques for the analysis of genomic data for surveillance of Anopheles mosquitoes.
At the end of the course, trainees will be able to:
1. Perform a range of analyses on Anopheles genomic data that are relevant to malaria vector surveillance
2. Describe key biological concepts underpinning the analyses
3. Describe key computing technologies used for the analyses
4. Interpret analysis results and discuss implications for malaria vector control policy
๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐:
The course runs from the 2nd of April 2025 till the 11th of June 2025
Application deadline: 1 January 2025
