Spending money on boosting posts and running ads every week… but getting ZERO enquiries?

The M-PESA "Super App" transition is officially here, and the feedback is… loud. 📉🇰🇪

​As a digital strategist, I’m seeing a lot of frustration, especially from the Diaspora. But if we look at the data, this move wasn't an accident—it was a survival tactic.

​Here’s the reality check:
​The 89% Factor: Safaricom’s market share has slipped from 97% to 89%. Consolidating into one "Super App" is their play to build an ecosystem you never have to leave, fighting off rising competition.

​The Consent Clause: You don't own the software. Under the T&Cs we all signed, the house always wins when it comes to retiring old versions for "security and system integrity."

​Security > UX: The forced SIM-handshake for activation is a nightmare for users abroad, but it’s a high-level fraud prevention measure designed to meet 2026 data compliance standards.

​The Workaround:
📍 Diaspora: You MUST use your Safaricom SIM on roaming for the initial login. No Wi-Fi, no VPN. Once the "handshake" is done, you’re good to go.
📍 Locals: If you’re stuck in a loop, clear your cache and do a fresh install.

The new M-PESA app has people divided — but here’s the part most people are missing 👇🏾

Yes, the rollout had real gaps.
� Diaspora users being asked to activate via roaming data? That’s a serious oversight — especially when Kenyans abroad send home over KES 500B every year.

But let’s be honest for a second…
Wanting to go back to the old app isn’t strategy — it’s comfort.
