Our Story

In 2007, tired of the terrible news coming out of Darfur, a group of women approached photographer, Alissa Everett, to find a way to help. Together, they formed Exposing Hope, a non-profit organization using documentary photography to raise awareness for human rights abuses and funds to empower grass-roots organizations making a difference for the survivors.

Exposing Hope uses moving images of human experience, suffering and hope to educate people about the problems at hand and inspire them to act. We also provide people with solutions that strengthen local communities in affected areas through our network of local non-profit organizations.

To date, we have highlighted issues in Darfur, Afghanistan, the DR Congo, Uganda and Kenya, and raised over $200,000 for projects. We are currently building a library for a secondary school in Kakuma refugee camp for kids of 19 different nationalities.
