KECTIL Kenya is nurturing a new generation of ethical, accountable, and civic-minded leaders by equipping young people with the knowledge, values, and practical skills needed to strengthen governance and drive positive change in their communities.

Through its year-long leadership curriculum for young people aged 17–26, KECTIL engages participants in critical discussions on governance, accountability, corruption, civic responsibility, and social justice. The programme develops analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills that enable young people to participate meaningfully in public life and contribute to stronger democratic institutions.

A defining feature of the programme is the KECTIL Community Project, where participants translate learning into action by identifying governance challenges within their communities and implementing practical solutions. These projects address issues such as service delivery, transparency, accountability, and community development, empowering young leaders to become active contributors to societal progress.

Guided by values of integrity, respect, ethical leadership, and non-bias, KECTIL has built a global network of young changemakers committed to promoting transparency, rejecting corruption, and advancing responsible leadership. With participants drawn from more than 70 countries, the initiative also fosters cross-cultural collaboration and the exchange of ideas that strengthen civic engagement worldwide.

Ven. Canon Dr. Scholar Wayua Kiilu is a Kenyan theologian, scholar, and interfaith leader whose work has contributed significantly to peacebuilding, social cohesion, and interreligious understanding. Through academic leadership, research, and community engagement, she has helped create platforms that foster dialogue, inclusion, and mutual respect among diverse communities.

As a lecturer at St. Paul's University and Coordinator of the Institute for Christian–Muslim Relations and Interfaith Programs, Dr. Wayua has played a key role in equipping leaders, students, and communities with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate religious diversity and promote peaceful coexistence. Her leadership also extends to the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians, where she serves as Country Coordinator, contributing to scholarship and dialogue that amplifies African voices and perspectives.

A published author, editor, and contributor to global theological resources, Dr. Wayua has combined academic excellence with practical peacebuilding, engaging in regional and international forums across Africa, Europe, and Asia. Her work continues to bridge faith communities, strengthen interfaith collaboration, and advance contextual approaches to peace and inclusion.

Through scholarship, leadership, and interfaith engagement, Dr. Wayua has become a respected voice for dialogue and social transformation, helping build more cohesive and resilient societies.

Mohamed Nur Mohamad is an accomplished journalist and media leader using the power of storytelling to promote peace, social cohesion, and resilience across the Horn of Africa. Through fact-based, human-centred journalism, he has contributed to efforts that counter misinformation, elevate marginalized voices, and shape important conversations on climate, conflict, governance, and peacebuilding.

His work at Arlaadi Media has helped create platforms that encourage civic engagement, amplify grassroots perspectives, and spotlight stories of resilience, hope, and community transformation. By highlighting local experiences and solutions, Mohamed has demonstrated how media can strengthen trust, foster understanding, and support more cohesive societies.

As a recipient of the 2025 IGAD Media Award, Mohamed has gained recognition for journalism that informs, connects, and inspires action. In his current role in diplomatic communications at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Tanzania, he continues to bridge media and diplomacy, strengthening collaboration between communities, institutions, and development partners while promoting dialogue, stability, and inclusive development.

His contribution to peacebuilding, responsible journalism, and social cohesion was recognized at the Warriors for Good Awards with the Silver Warrior accolade in Peace, Cohesion, and Prevention of Violent Extremism.

St. Paul's University continues to play a vital role in strengthening peace, social cohesion, governance, and interfaith understanding across Kenya and Africa through the work of the Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations in Eastleigh (CCMRE) and the Centre for Christianity & Islamic Studies in Africa (CCISA).

CCMRE has become a leading platform for promoting peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims, translating academic research into practical community action. Working in communities such as Eastleigh, Kamukunji, Mathare, Majengo, and Mlango Kubwa, the Centre has facilitated more than 110 structured dialogue sessions, bringing together religious leaders, youth, and community members to build trust, prevent conflict, and strengthen local peace mechanisms. Its work has contributed to greater understanding, collaboration, and resilience in areas historically affected by interfaith tensions.

Complementing this effort, CCISA has strengthened governance and civic engagement by equipping religious leaders, students, and grassroots communities with practical skills for dialogue, conflict prevention, leadership, and social cohesion. Through regular forums, workshops, conferences, and interfaith engagements, the Centre creates inclusive spaces where diverse voices can address community challenges, embrace diversity, and foster mutual respect.

Together, these initiatives have positioned St. Paul’s University as a leading centre for interreligious dialogue, peacebuilding, civic engagement, and community resilience, extending impact across Kenya and the African continent.

This contribution to peace, cohesion, interfaith understanding, and civic participation led to CCMRE receiving the Gold Warrior Award in Peace, Cohesion, and Prevention of Violent Extremism, while CCISA received the Silver Warrior Award in Governance and Civic Engagement at the Warriors for Good Awards.

The Centre for Medical Mobilization Board (CMMB Kenya) is advancing equitable healthcare for women, children, and underserved communities across Kenya, strengthening health systems while restoring dignity and improving access to life-saving care.

With over two decades of experience and operations across more than a dozen counties, CMMB Kenya focuses on safe motherhood, child health, nutrition, clean water, and essential medical services for vulnerable populations. Its work ensures that communities most in need can access quality healthcare and support.

The organization strengthens local health systems by training healthcare workers, upgrading health facilities, and delivering essential medicines to underserved areas. This systems-based approach builds capacity within communities while improving the quality and reach of healthcare services.

Through collaboration with local partners and communities, CMMB Kenya combines medical expertise with compassion-driven service delivery to promote long-term resilience and health equity. Each intervention reflects a commitment to ensuring that every life is valued and has access to care.

Britam Foundation and Britam are demonstrating how purpose-driven leadership, innovation, and strategic partnerships can create lasting impact across health, climate resilience, economic empowerment, and sustainable business.

Britam Foundation is improving maternal and newborn health for vulnerable mothers through a community-led, technology-enabled model that combines trained community health promoters, peer support networks, and digital tools to strengthen access to quality care. The Foundation is also driving climate resilience across East Africa through ecosystem restoration, tree planting, and solar-powered water systems that have expanded access to clean water while supporting environmental conservation and community livelihoods.

Through collaborative initiatives with development partners, private sector organizations, and grassroots communities, the Foundation has improved access to clean water, strengthened healthcare delivery, restored critical ecosystems, created economic opportunities, and advanced community resilience. These efforts reflect a strong commitment to creating shared value by addressing social and environmental challenges while delivering measurable, long-term impact.

At the corporate level, Britam Group continues to integrate sustainability into its business strategy, promoting responsible business practices, financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and environmental stewardship across its operations. Through accessible insurance, savings, pension, and investment solutions, alongside support for women, youth, and persons with disabilities, the Group is helping build more inclusive and resilient communities across Africa.

Village HopeCore International is transforming rural communities through an integrated approach that connects healthcare, nutrition, livelihoods, and climate resilience. Guided by a vision of healthier, more self-reliant communities, the organisation combines community trust, innovation, and evidence-based interventions to create sustainable impact at scale.

In healthcare, Village HopeCore International delivers school health programmes, village-based maternal and child health services, and a network of more than 1,200 Community Health Promoters who extend quality care to underserved populations. Innovative solutions such as a Starlink-powered telehealth programme have improved access to healthcare in remote areas while reducing the cost and barriers associated with seeking medical services.

Through its Three-Legged Stool Model, Village HopeCore International integrates economic empowerment, health systems strengthening, and capacity building. Thousands of entrepreneurs have accessed microfinance, business training, and livelihood support, leading to increased incomes, new enterprises, and stronger household resilience. Climate-smart innovations such as dairy goat projects, biogas digesters, and sustainable agriculture initiatives further support long-term economic and environmental sustainability.

This multifaceted impact of the Village HopeCore International was honoured with three accolades at the Warriors for Good Awards: Bronze Warrior in Health Access and Innovation, Silver Warrior in Food Security and Improved Nutrition, and Best Finalist Warrior in Building Sustainable Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment.

Generation Kenya is helping young people unlock meaningful employment opportunities by equipping them with the skills, confidence, and support needed to succeed in today’s labour market. Focused on creating pathways to economic mobility, the organization connects talent with opportunity through practical, demand-driven training programmes.

Working closely with employers, Generation Kenya designs training programmes that respond directly to workforce needs, ensuring young people acquire relevant technical competencies alongside essential workplace skills such as communication, professionalism, teamwork, and problem-solving. This employer-led approach helps bridge the gap between education and employment while preparing graduates for long-term career success.

The organization places a strong emphasis on inclusion, prioritizing unemployed and underemployed youth, particularly young women and individuals from underserved communities. Through intentional targeting and support, Generation Kenya helps address barriers that often limit access to employment opportunities and career progression.

By aligning skills development with real labour market demand, Generation Kenya is helping build a workforce that is more prepared, resilient, and equipped for sustainable livelihoods.

Penda Health is demonstrating how a mission-driven social enterprise can expand access to quality healthcare while creating meaningful employment opportunities for young professionals. By combining affordable healthcare delivery with workforce development, the organization is strengthening both community health outcomes and economic opportunity.

Operating a growing network of modern, low-cost clinics across Kenya, particularly in urban and peri-urban communities, Penda Health provides comprehensive primary healthcare services including outpatient consultations, maternal and child health, diagnostics, pharmacy services, family planning, and chronic disease management. A patient-centred approach, supported by technology and data-driven decision-making, helps ensure consistent, affordable, and high-quality care.

At the same time, Penda Health has become a significant contributor to employability and job creation. The organization has expanded its workforce from 356 employees in 2020 to more than 520 employees, creating opportunities for clinical officers, nurses, pharmacy and laboratory technologists, coordinators, and healthcare managers. A strong focus on early-career talent, mentorship, practical experience, and professional development helps bridge the gap between education and long-term employment.

Penda Health also champions inclusive employment, with women making up the majority of the workforce and leadership pathways that promote gender equity across the health sector.

This dual impact in healthcare access and economic empowerment saw Penda Health recognized with two accolades at the Warriors for Good Awards: Silver Warrior for Best Social Enterprise and Bronze Warrior in Employability and Job Creation.

The Secondary Education for Girls’ Advancement (SEGA), established in 2007 in Tanzania’s Morogoro region, is equipping vulnerable girls with education, skills, and confidence to lead, thrive, and drive lasting social transformation. Guided by the belief that educated girls transform families, communities, and nations, SEGA continues to create safe pathways for girls to access and complete their education.

Each year, SEGA supports over 2,500 girls facing challenges such as poverty, gender-based violence, early pregnancy, forced marriage, and other forms of vulnerability. Its integrated programmes include SEGA Girls’ Secondary School, continuing education scholarships, community outreach initiatives, and graduate business development support, all designed to strengthen learning, leadership, and long-term opportunity.

SEGA focuses on leadership development, rights awareness, entrepreneurship, STEM education, environmental sustainability, and income generation, enabling girls to build agency and resilience while contributing to their communities.

The impact is reflected in strong outcomes, with nearly all SEGA Girls’ Secondary School graduates progressing to higher education and a significant proportion advancing to university studies. Many alumni pursue STEM and climate-related careers, becoming advocates for justice, sustainability, and community transformation.

Through this work, SEGA continues to empower girls to stay in school, resist exploitation, delay early marriage, make informed life choices, and emerge as leaders and role models.
