Only 9% of all the plastic ever made has been recycled. 12% has been incinerated and the remaining 79% has gone into landfills, dumps, our environment our oceans.

We need to stop consuming plastic and things packaged in plastic. Opt for more sustainable quality household items made from renewable resources and ditch the single use plastics (grocery bags, drink bottles, food wrappers, straws, fast food drink lids, bottle caps etc..). While plastic has become a global crisis that will take a massive overhaul to change and improve on we can still make an impact on an individual level by being smart consumers and purchasing mindfully.

Think before you buy. 🌍🌊🐠

Sol
A name, of which has been used in the past for gods and goddesses of the sun. It is an extremely rare name, usually feminine, however can also be masculine too. It is also the correct scientific name for our solar sun.

Those who carry the name Sol are usually charismatic in nature, loving and creative. They will often find peaceful approaches to any situation and find solice in their own company.

Due to their loving nature however they are often vulnerable and can be hurt with ease. As a result of which they will usually grow to be independent in nature, building mental and psychical barriers to those around them. If these barriers are breached it can cause extreme consequences for those responsible.

Much like the sun itself, those under the name Sol aim to spread warmth and compassion to others, however usually doing so from a distance.

What Does GUD Mean?
GUD means "Good".

Help your local wildlife and leave leaves alone! Did you know that critters ranging from turtles and toads to songbirds, mammals and invertebrates rely on leaf litter for food, shelter and nesting material. Many moth and butterfly caterpillars overwinter cling on fallen leaves before emerging in spring......Now you know!

Wetlands are areas of land where water covers the soil – all year or just at certain times of the year. They include:

-swamps, marshes
-billabongs, lakes, lagoons
-saltmarshes, mudflats
-mangroves, coral reefs
-bogs, fens, and peatlands.

Wetlands are a critical part of our natural environment. They protect our shores from wave action, reduce the impacts of floods, absorb pollutants and improve water quality. They provide habitat for animals and plants and many contain a wide diversity of life, supporting plants and animals that are found nowhere else.

Wetlands provide an important range of environmental, social and economic services. Many wetlands are areas of great natural beauty.
Protection of our wetlands is a MUST both for NOW and for FUTURE. You and I have a responsibility of ensuring our wetlands are protected from destruction or pollution of any kind. Those who respect Mother Nature deserve all kinds of respect!

Mother Nature is soft, but knows when to stand her ground. Natural disasters aren't a mistake. Mother nature is intentional. Everything about her is intentional. Every rainfall, is intentional. Every sunny day, is intentional. Every storm, is intentional and every natural disaster is intentional. She will roar when she needs, when she needs us to take a closer look. That's what natural disasters are.
And she does nudge us. Do you notice? If we don't do our best to take care of her, the tides will rise and beach side cities will be wiped. Perhaps our kids or our kids' kids won't ever see the glaciers of Mount Kenya or Mount Kilimanjaro today. She's not gonna cover up for us, but she will love us on our journey and gives us clues and signs. It's up to us to pay attention.

A century ago, Nairobi was a tented camp for the Kenya-Uganda railway workers.

It had cool weather, clean drinking water from four main rivers – Ngong, Nairobi, Mathare and Mbagathi – creating a bubbling ecosystem in which plant and animal life thrived.

Today this ecosystem has been destroyed by human settlement. The four rivers still flow through Nairobi but, because of a century-long pollution, many people mistake them for an open sewerage system.

Ngong river runs through the Kibera slum which, despite its large human population, has no sewage and solid waste disposal system.

It also passes through the Industrial Area where some industries discharge their waste into it.
Besides industrial and domestic waste that is discharged into the rivers, other effluent comes from agricultural activities and car wash runoff water.
We also have small-scale farming where chemical fertilisers are used. When it rains, some of the fertiliser and dangerous chemicals are washed into the rivers.
In the long term, people living downstream will accumulate dangerous metals such as lead in the river and also ends up into our oceans.

If these trend continues unchecked you and I will end up living in a dirty environment with no clean air, clean water and no therapy that can only be provided by a beautiful environment. We must change the way we THINK TALK AND ACT towards our environment. It's your little action that makes the big difference

Cigarette Butts are the Worst Contaminant Of Our Oceans - Not Plastic Straws.

A cigarette butt is a non-biodegradable trash, the sewers in our cities are no ashtrays. One cigarette butt pollutes 500 litres of water.

Dear smokers, please adopt the habit to use pocket ashtrays or throw your extinguished cigarette in a litter bin or quit the bad habit of smoking altogether.

Just imagine we are producing an estimated 150 million tonnes of single-use plastic every year. Cutting unnecessary disposables out of your daily life will, when magnified on a global scale, have a huge impact on the environment.

Reducing your personal plastic waste can be fairly simple and easy to achieve. Common single-use plastics such as carrier bags, coffee cups and water bottles can be completely avoided by investing in a reusable alternative.

More than half a billion straws are used every day around the world, most of which are automatically given in drinks as an unnecessary accessory. Simply asking for no straw, or bringing your own reusable one, is a simple yet effective switch you can make to reduce your personal plastic waste.

Now you know. Kindly help to share and pass the word around. Together we can restore our earth and make it Beautiful, Green and litter Free. Sol Gud

Single-use masks, gloves and bottles of sanitizer purpotedly shielding us from the spread of COVID-19 are ending up on the streets, in the seas and among wildlife.

And because waste management problems are systemic in Kenya , even the ones put in the trash could ultimately end up in nature. That's currently what's happening in Nairobi.

In the future we need to make sure we're ready for pandemics like this and that we're ready to deal with them in an environmental way; it doesn't have to be one at the expense of the other.

Earth Day is every day and we always are encouraging others to get involved and support efforts working toward a clean environment and healthy planet. Our oceans are filled with items that do not belong there. Huge amounts of consumer plastics, metals, rubber, paper, textiles, derelict fishing gear, vessels, and other lost or discarded items enter the marine environment every day, making marine debris one of the most widespread pollution problems facing the world's ocean and waterways.

The ultimate solution to the problem lies with every single one of us—preventing marine debris in the first place. So..., consider how you might personally prevent marine debris by following the 4Rs.

*Refuse unnecessary single-use items, like plastic straws or cutlery when possible;

** Reduce the amount of waste you produce by choosing products with less packaging;

*** Reuse items when you can and choose reusable items over disposable ones; and

**** Recycle as much as possible— bottles, cell phones, ink cartridges, and many other items can be recycled.

Next, spread the word to others! Tell your family, friends, community, and more about this important issue and what they can do to help.
