Wishing Edward Ndiritu the very best as he takes on the London Marathon this Sunday the 26th, in support of Save the Rhino International.
From protecting wildlife in the field at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to running 42.2 kilometers for a cause close to his heart, Edward is raising vital funds for rhino conservation and the wild.
We stand with him and wish him strength all the way to the finish line for rhinos and for conservation.

A STRONG PILLAR OF CONSERVATION HAS FALLEN
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating news of the passing of our beloved colleague, brother, father, and community leader Daniel Ole Sambu.
Ole Sambu was a passionate conservationist dedicated to the work and life of conservancy rangers. The conservation sector and conservancy network at large has lost a conservation champion and friend.
He leaves behind an indelible mark as a strong advocate for African rangers having spearheaded the establishment of the Association of Wildlife Conservancy Rangers in Kenya (AWCRK) and aligning its work with the International Ranger Federation and the Game Rangers Association of Africa
We will miss his contribution, friendship & leadership.
Our sincere condolences goes to his entire family including Big Life Foundation and the conservation network.
May his soul Rest in Peace

97% OF RANGERS ❤️ THE JOB - BUT...
A recent survey showed that 97% of Rangers like their jobs, but 41% of rangers are in precarious employment situations. While this survey was done in Kenya, the results hold universal truths.
When over 150 rangers, managers, and partners from 20 African countries united at the 3rd African Ranger Congress, significant "improvement opportunities" were identified, among which are:
- Improving working conditions with continuous training and evaluation.
- Better compensation and benefits, including insurance for Ranger families.
- Employment equity for women.
- Greater support to prevent and relieve stress and trauma.
- Ensuring specialized training and sufficient staffing for conflict zones.
- Mentoring and leadership to ensure optimal Ranger development.
- Establishing formal standards of procedures and conduct.
- Improving relationships with local communities.
We'll be taking a closer look at these in upcoming posts.
