"Lucy please can you just get out! Who gave you permission to be in my room while iam away?" Pata asked even before they fully in the house.
"Pata i couldn't wait to hear what madam told you. You seem worried, what was the discussion all about? Stop looking me with that face and talk to me" Lucy squeezed herself on Pata's body forcing a hug.
Pata just stood there wondering what to do.He was confused by the job offer and now the hug from Lucy added more confusion to him.
He lifted his hand and placed it just above Lucy's backs.
"Pata is everything alright?" She asked in whispers near Pata's ears.
"Yeah everything is ok. It's just that madam wants to promote me to be the family driver" he replied disentangling from Lucy's arms.
"Wooow so you will still be in the farm. I bet she is even raising your pay per month. But just take care of yourself P. I want to see you around." She complimented with a fare smile and walked away from the room. Pata was left in confusion trying to make a wise decision. He needed more money but he had reasons not to be in the cities anymore.

On the other hand Lucy felt jealous about Pata's new job. She did not like the fact that Pata would be away from the farm at times now. She had feelings for him. She also didn't trust her boss with Pata. Mrs Jimmy has been asking endless questions about Pata. Somehow she felt unsafe with Pata in the hands of their boss. She went back to her chores as the evening hours were approaching.

Pata went back to animals shelters. He could hardly concentrate with his work. He almost left some cows unmilked. We're it not that the cows always formed a queen to the milking machine, some would spend the night with their udders full. He finally finished the work and took the milk to the cooler. He kept the jars at the entrance of the cooler and left heading to his room.

Pata is standing on the main door of Jimmy's family mansion. Somehow he felt like he was doing the wrong thing but he was not going to give his conscience a chance to loose the opportunity to Start climbing the ladder of richness. He pressed the door bell switch and he could hear it ring from inside. He stood there for a while without anyone responding by opening the door. For some reason he gave in to his conscience and started walking away from the magnficient house. Just before he made five steps the door flung open and there madam was, wearing a white night dress.it a see me through and Pata took glances of her from lower abdomen downwards. "Hey Pata. Sorry for keeping you waiting. I was upstairs when I heard the bell ring" she said with a broad smile. Mrs Jimmy sounded polite although Pata thought it was her moods that were good at the moment. Furthermore she was his boss there could be nothing unsual. "It is the nature of women any way"he thought to himself.
"I bet you have made up your mind. Come in so I can hear what is your decision" she finally talked when she realized Pata was confused. Pata followed her inside leaving his Ankara saddles outside.
The moment he got in, he felt like he was in other world. From the carpet, the table, the couch, the paintings and everything inside spelt one thing "richness". Pata's eyes settled on one thing, a certain painting of a rose flower. He looked at the painting keenly. It ressembled a painting he owned in the past. It had costed him a lot to acquire it but due to circumstances, he sold it at a throw away price leave alone bei ya jioni.
"You like the painting huh! My husband bought it from a young man in town sometime back at very cheap price. The man seemed to be in great need of cash" she said handing him a glass of wine. " Have a sit"
Pata had not uttered even a word since he got in to this paradise.He felt humiliated, in the past he used to live just Jimmy's family but right now he was just surviving. He was the one who sold the painting to get some cash for fair so he could get fair to attend proceedings of an on going case in court.
"Now could you tell me your decision about the job. Are you taking the offer?" She asked breaking the silence. Pata's mind was brought back but the words had just passed near the ear. "Ple......ase par....don maa''m"
"What does that painting mean to you? You have been staring at since you got here" she asked facing directly to his eyes.
"Eee....eem it's just that eeeeh. iam the one who sold it to your husband. Mmmmh.... Eee..hm am sorry please" he said trembling. He did not even know whether what he said was right. He sipped his wine for the first time trying to gain focus.
" You said you sold that painting? Can you tell me what happened to your life back then? Are you sure you are not mistaking the art?" She was confused. The guy who sold the painting bythen seemed classy compared to Pata here. "Yeah iam the one. It's a long story though. Can we talk about the job please?"
