🟠LIVE: ODM Leader Dr. Oburu Odinga Meets Taita Taveta Grassroots Leaders Ahead of Budget Reading
09/06/2026
This morning I accompanied the ODM Party Leader, Dr. Oburu Oginga to the Nairobi Hospital, Nairobi, to see Makadara MP and ODM Nairobi Chairman Hon. George Aladwa who was taken ill and is recuperating.
Hon. Aladwa has been one of the strongest defenders of the ODM Party, and as such, we wish him the quickest recovery.

Out of the deep, long-standing family relations between the Were family and the Jaramogi family, today I represented our ODM Party Leader, Dr. Oburu Oginga and the larger Jaramogi family as we condoled with my brother, former Matungu MP David Were, for the devastating loss of his son, Hannington Were, who was killed following a violent night attack in Kisumu last month.
But as I stood there, looking at Hannington's casket, I could not hide the truth. I had to look within and accuse myself alongside my fellow leaders in Kisumu. We failed Hannington, and we are failing our youth.
The runaway insecurity claiming the lives of our young people in Kisumu is a monster we have partly created. For far too long, political leaders have promoted a dangerous culture of goonism, giving young people a mere Sh200 handout when all they want are jobs, sustainable economic empowerment, and safe neighborhoods.
On the political front, my stand remains unwavering. If we in the ODM Party want to be taken seriously at any national negotiating table, we must remember that politics is a game of numbers, and we need every single one of them.
Those shouting 'Wantam' and 'Tutam' choruses must stop. We must bring all our voices under one umbrella and work together under the unified leadership of our Party Leader, Dr. Oburu Oginga. A divided house cannot stand, but a united ODM will be unstoppable.
Rest in peace, Hannington. Your tragic exit must be the turning point for how we protect and empower the youth of Kisumu.
Tonight, I step out from the long shadows and remove the veil. Beyond being Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s daughter and Raila Odinga’s sister, who is the real Ruth Odinga?
Tonight, we separate the wheat from the chaff. We dismantle the narrative of entitlement. This is my story, told on my own terms, for the very first time.

I celebrated the 70th birthday of Archbishop Philip Anyolo, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Nairobi, at the Holy Family Minor Basilica.
Having worked closely with him during his impactful leadership in the Archdiocese of Kisumu, it was a joy to reconnect. We look forward to the Church walking alongside the ODM party as we strengthen unity, values, and service to our people.
In our ongoing quest to ensure total unity within the ODM party, I will also be reaching out to other religious leaders across the country to build bridges and foster a shared vision for our nation.

‎Love knows no borders, and tonight was a beautiful blend of friendship, family, and new beginnings.
‎It was an honor to witness the breathtaking wedding of Darlene Kijemba - daughter of my dear friend, prominent Congolese businessman Albert Kijemba - as she said "I Do" to the love of her life, Joseph Kariuki, in a stunningly colorful ceremony in Limuru this evening.
‎Accompanied by my husband, Dr. Nana Busia, we joined family, friends, and dignitaries from across the region to celebrate this beautiful union of hearts and cultures.
‎To the newlyweds, Darlene and Joseph, may your marriage be filled with endless laughter, deep understanding, and abundant blessings as you begin this beautiful journey together. Félicitations aux mariés!
