Young Africans Must Rise With Purpose
On 25/10/2025 at the AYLF Summit, Prof. PLO Lumumba reminded us of a hard truth:
Africa’s future will not be built by those who run from it. But by those who choose to stay, sacrifice, and take responsibility.
We cannot continue asking, “How many from my tribe are in the cabinet?”
We must break free from the ghosts of ethnicity and the comfort of lamentation.
If the politics of a nation fail, society fails — and ignoring politics does not exempt us from its consequences.
Africa is not short of talent. We are short of confidence, coordination, and conviction.
So here is the challenge to every young African:
a. Don’t say you are too young — history proves otherwise.
b. Organize, don’t just agonize
c. Build solutions in your village, your university, your county
d. Use education for transformation, not just certification
e. Stand against any form of tribalism
This is our generation’s assignment.
Not tomorrow — now.
Let us rise. Let us speak the language of progress.
Let us rebuild the continent that believes in the brilliance of its own young people.

Today during the AYLF MKU Chapter leadership summit, we were reminded of who we must become as young Africans. 🌍✊🏾
Prof. Lumumba challenged us deeply:
- To Stop running away — others are coming here to build
- To Break the chains of tribalism
- To stop saying we're too young — history proves otherwise
- To always know that politics matters — because our future depends on it
- Education must transform lives, not just decorate walls with certificates
If Africa will rise…
It is on us. It is now.
Not later. Not someday.
We owe the next generation a continent that works.
A continent that believes in its own young doctors, engineers, teachers, and leaders.
A continent unafraid to speak the language of hope and responsibility.
The question is:
What will you do to make Africa stand?

The Gen Z Revolution: Redefining Change in Africa and Beyond
As the Gen Z revolution continues to take root across the world and in Africa, with Kenya at the forefront, we find ourselves at a defining moment in history. This is not just about a generational shift; it’s about a values shift.
We are witnessing young people rise not out of rebellion, but out of responsibility. They are questioning old systems, challenging power structures, and demanding accountability. Technology, creativity, and bold expression are their weapons. But the real battle is one of ideas and integrity.
For the political class, this movement means one thing: adapt or be left behind. The language of leadership is changing from control to collaboration, from silence to speaking up, from hierarchy to humanity.
But even as we, the young generation, take the stage, we must ask ourselves:
- Are we truly ready to bring the change we seek?
- Is it the right kind of change, one that heals, unites, and builds?
True transformation doesn’t come from anger alone; it comes from vision, discipline, and love for our people.
So yes, Gen Z is the change. But the challenge is to ensure our revolution is not just loud; it’s lasting.

What Would Raila’s Absence Mean for Kenya?
There are moments in a nation’s story when you pause, reflect, and ask .... what next?
Raila Amolo Odinga has, for decades, been more than a politician. He has been a symbol of resilience, a voice for reform, and a pillar of Kenya’s democratic identity.
To talk about Kenya’s political journey without mentioning Raila is to skip an entire chapter of our history.
If the day ever comes when he is no longer here, it won’t just be the end of a person’s life ; it would mark the end of an era.
An era that carried the hopes of the second liberation, the struggles for multiparty democracy, and the belief that leadership is about conviction, not convenience.
His absence would open many questions:
- - What becomes of the movement he built?
- - Who steps forward to carry that reformist spirit?
- - Can our politics evolve beyond personality and finally center on values, ideas, and institutions?
In truth, Kenya has matured politically. We’ve learned, sometimes painfully that peace is precious, and that no one individual should hold the country’s stability hostage.
Yet, we cannot ignore the emotional vacuum his passing would create.
For millions, Raila represents unfinished dreams ,of equity, devolution, and unity.
The real test will not be in how loudly we mourn, but how wisely we transition.
Whether we choose to honor his legacy through calm, maturity, and continued pursuit of justice or whether we fall back into old divisions.
History will judge us not by how we celebrated him, but by how we carried forward what he stood for.
Kenya has come far. The question is, can we now walk together beyond personalities, into purpose?
