What if young people stopped waiting for permission to create change?
I had the honor of standing before Ruaha Catholic University - RUCU in Iringa, Tanzania in the presence of the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Giuseppe Sean Coppola of Italy to Tanzania, to share the vision and work of the EDU-Initiative Kenya alongside the Bella Esperanza Charity .
This was my message: The future of our communities will not be built by waiting. It will be built by people willing to use the resources, ideas, and opportunities already within their reach. We must stop creating solutions that only work for a single community. Our programs, innovations, and ideas should be scalable, replicable, and sustainable beyond borders, because change is not an individual responsibility, it is a collective one. I also challenged young people to stop waiting until they graduate to test their ideas or build solutions. Start now. Build now. Fail now. Learn now. Communities are transformed when young people dare to become problem-solvers early on.
Alexandra Pfeifer, thank you for the platform. Thank you also to Saverio Zi Save—through the Terzo Paradiso / Rebirth-day (Third Paradise) and Fondazione Pistoletto Cittadellarte Tommaso Venco of Hexisart, and Upendo Kafonogo for advancing the message of collaboration, shared humanity, and community-driven change-Executive Director Aggie Mwende

Earlier this month, our team conducted a mentorship programme at KAG Kaembeni, where participants gained valuable life skills.
Through this programme, we learned that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue their full potential, regardless of where they come from or the challenges they face.
We believe empowerment goes beyond academics. Through scholarships, holistic mentorship, and entrepreneurial development, we are equipping children, youth, and families with the tools they need to thrive and build stronger communities for the future.
When we invest in children through education and opportunity, we invest in stronger communities, brighter futures, and lasting change.
They went for the mentorship as participants and listeners, and came back as confident voices.
These are some of the key reflections from students of Kaembeni KAG who attended a one-week mentorship programme and returned with valuable lessons to share.
From understanding topics such as goal setting, consent, and confidence, to learning what to do when their rights are violated, the programme empowered them to speak up, ask questions, and stand firm.
This programme has greatly impacted how they speak, explain themselves, and carry themselves with confidence.

At just 6 years old, Amara is already thinking like a founder.
She came up with “Amara Activity Place” a space where over 50 children can come together to paint, sip, and simply enjoy being creative. Her idea? That learning isn’t just about classwork but about play and discovering what you love.
She even thought it through a small fee to cover materials. A whole experience, built from pure curiosity.
A reminder to parents: start them young.
When children explore their ideas, they build confidence, creativity, and courage. And when we support them, we show them their voices matter.
Let’s nurture that curiosity. Let’s back their ideas and let our children grow in their passion.

Today, we celebrate the strength, dedication, and resilience of every individual whose hard work keeps our communities moving forward.
Every effort matters, every role counts, and every dream built through honest work deserves recognition.
This day reminds us that, through unity, passion, and purpose, we can continue to create opportunities, uplift others, and shape a better future for all.

Creating awareness around personal safety and sexual education is essential in protecting young people from abuse and exploitation.
As a community, we all have a role to play in building safer spaces for the next generation.
