Isiolo gender watch held two consecutive meetings with teachers and girls at ngaremara and Daaba primary schools respectively. The objective of the mentorship session entailed age-appropriate awareness and life-skills sessions for adolescents to build their agency, confidence, and knowledge on bodily autonomy, consent, and early reporting of gender based violence.

STATEMENT ON THE RECENT INCIDENT AND CALL FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE IN ISIOLO
We strongly condemn the recent incident of violence that has led to the tragic loss of life. Any loss of life is deeply painful and unacceptable, and we extend our sincere condolences to the affected family and the wider community.
Criminal acts such as theft must be treated as individual wrongdoing and addressed strictly through the law. A wrong committed by one person must never be used to justify collective punishment, retaliation, or the targeting of innocent people. A thief is a thief—not a community.
Isiolo is a shared home for all of us. Our strength lies in our diversity, coexistence, and long-standing relationships as neighbors who depend on one another for peace, livelihoods, and progress. History has shown us that violence only brings suffering—families are displaced, livelihoods are destroyed, and our collective future is set back. In conflict, there are no winners; all of us lose.
We therefore call on all residents to remain calm, reject incitement, and choose dialogue over violence. Let us protect our children, our elders, and our shared future by refusing to be drawn into cycles of revenge.
We also call upon the security agencies to act swiftly, professionally, and impartially to restore calm, protect lives and property, and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with the law. Security is a public duty, and timely action is essential to prevent further loss and escalation.
Peace is paramount. Let us stand together for a safe, united, and prosperous Isiolo—where justice is upheld, coexistence is protected, and every life is valued.
Issued in the spirit of peace, unity, and shared responsibility.
