Through its established Haki Mashinani platforms, Access to Medicines Platform will translate national GBV and femicide response efforts into grassroots action through community-led committees comprising chiefs, paralegals, religious leaders, youth, health actors, and other local champions. By leveraging trusted spaces such as barazas, churches, and community dialogues, these committees drive awareness, prevention, reporting, and access to justice directly aligning with the TWG’s call for stronger community-based action against GBV and femicide.
See how this model is driving change in Vihiga in the video below.

Gender-Based Violence and femicide remain urgent human rights concerns that demand decisive action and accountability. We are launching a new advocacy initiative in Kakamega and Vihiga Counties with support from Urgent Action Fund-Africa to accelerate county-level responses to GBV. The initiative will:
☑️Engage duty bearers to develop accountability commitments
☑️Amplify public awareness through radio dialogues in local languages
☑️Translate national GBV findings into county policy advocacy
☑️Strengthen collaboration among civil society actors to monitor progress
In essence, this project aims to transform national GBV evidence into concrete action, accountability, and justice for survivors.
