Christians across the Diocese of Embu joined Catholics worldwide in celebrating the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) on Sunday, marked by Eucharistic processions and renewed devotion to the sacrament.

At St. John the Apostle Kangaru Parish church, the celebrations began with a Mass at Kangaru Girls High School led by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Paul Kinyua Nyaga.

After the service, faithful took part in a procession from the school through Kangaru DEB Primary School to the parish church.

Fr. Kinyua emphasized the significance of the Holy Eucharist, describing it as the source of Christian life and a reminder of Christ's enduring presence among believers through His Body and Blood.

He urged Christians to deepen their faith and remain united through participation in the sacrament.

Diocese of Embu Bishop Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani Ndung'u has urged families to embrace peace, love and unity while calling on students to avoid violence and destruction of school property during unrest.

Speaking during Corpus Christi celebrations at Karaba-Wango Parish on Sunday, the bishop emphasized the importance of strong family bonds, saying peaceful homes are essential for building cohesive communities.

He encouraged married couples to remain committed to their marriage vows and seek dialogue, faith and guidance when faced with challenges in their relationships.

The bishop also appealed to young people to adopt positive values and make responsible decisions in their daily lives.

His remarks on education came as the Diocese of Embu dedicated the day to prayers for students.

Bishop Kimani expressed concern over cases of school unrest that have led to the destruction of property and loss of lives in some institutions.

He reminded students that school facilities are developed through the sacrifices of parents and society and that damaging them ultimately hurts families and communities.

The bishop further warned against actions that could endanger lives, noting that the country continues to mourn students who recently died in a school fire allegedly started by fellow learners.

He urged students to pursue peaceful and lawful channels when addressing grievances.

At the same time, he called on parents to play a more active role in guiding and mentoring their children to help nurture responsible and disciplined citizens.

During the occasion, prayers were offered for families, students, institutions and the wider society.

The celebrations concluded with a Eucharistic procession and prayers for peace, unity and social harmony.
