*Embu County Education Board Stakeholder’s Meeting*

Good evening colleagues. I trust you are well.

This is to inform you that on 29th May 2026, the County Director of Education, Embu County, invited ECPDA to a stakeholders’ meeting by the County Education Board.

This was a daylong meeting at Kangaru School and the meeting was convened to help find a solution to the issue of unrest in our secondary schools.

ECPDA was represented in the meeting by Vice Chair Ms.Rita Wahome, Runyenjes Zone Rep Dr. Jeremiah Ireri, Dr. Mary Calmen Mugane and Ms. Dorothy Murugi.

As per request by CDE, ECPDA prepared a written submission detailing possible causes of the unrests, and recommendations on how to address the same.

I wish to thank Hon Secretary Dr Peter Muchanje, Rita Wahome, Dr Jeremiah Ireri, Dr Mary C Mugane and the caucus of Emeritus Chairpersons for helping to put together ECPDA’s submission.

*Breakfast Meeting with Innovative Africa*

On a different matter, ECPDA held a breakfast meeting with a Not-For-Profit Organization by the name *Innovate Africa*, to explore the possibility of collaborating on community matters.

Among the different initiatives that Innovate Africa pursues, one of them is to work with professional associations to empower and create positive impacts to communities in Kenya.

They have identified ECPDA as a potential partner for future collaboration and yesterday’s meeting was meant to help both organizations to understand
each other better and identify how we can potentially collaborate.

The discussions will continue and we shall keep you updated and even potentially call upon you to help identify the areas that we can focus on if the discussions get to the next level.

Dr. Kobuthi and Florence today conducted a motivational talk for Form Four candidates at Kamviu Secondary School. The session addressed discipline, bad company, "muguka" abuse, academic focus, and hope for the future. Students were greatly encouraged to believe in themselves, work harder, and pursue their dreams despite challenges.

Launch of Military Veterans Embu County Chapter.

To mark the operationalization of the Military Veterans Act, 2022, the Military Veterans Embu County Chapter (MVECC) was launched on Friday 13th March 2026 at Moi Stadium Embu, by H.E Cecily Mbarire, Governor Embu County.

ECPDA Chairman was officially invited by MVECC Chairman Col Rtd Elias Nguu to represent ECPDA in the event. Col Rtd Elias Nguu is also a member of ECPDA and the two associations are exploring ways of collaboration in community service, especially around schools mentorship programs.

On behalf of ECPDA I wish to congratulate our military veterans for the successful launch and most sincerely thank them through their Chairman for the many years they dedicated their lives to serving our nation by defending us within our borders and beyond.
