Public participation is key to building a stronger, more engaged community at the village and ward levels.

On Wednesday, SRI joined members of Kobura Ward in Kadibo Sub-County for a vital public participation forum on the Kisumu County Budget 2026/2027. This process strengthens social accountability and empowers citizens in government decisions.

We are still experiencing aparthy among the young people, thus the need to integrate online media engagements in our public participation processes.

Empowering Gendered Leadership for Stronger Community Groups.

Strengthening leadership with a gender lens in our local groups is key to advancing gender justice. We've seen how excluding spouses during share-outs or loan processes and general local group engagements fuels gender-based violence and sows discord in our communities.

Ending the week powerfully, we partnered with the Department of Social Development, Women Enterprise Fund, Youth Enterprise Development Fund, and Unaitas Bank to equip group leaders with practical skills.

These tools will boost group performance, promote joint spousal involvement, and reduce GBV among couples actively engaged in local development groups.

Let us commit to inclusive leadership—together, we build safer, thriving communities.

Yesterday, among other partners (state and non-state actors), our community outreach—"Thriving Futures"—brought vital health services and info right to the people of Ombaka in Nyando Sub-County, fostering resilient communities through holistic wellness, empowerment, and collective action.

Sustainable Rural Initiatives, specifically supported 102 adolescent girls and young women with dignity packs (pads and tissues) and SRH screening using key health tools. We have also strategized future support for vulnerable boys and young men with boxers and info. This helps us identify and uplift the right holders for ongoing periodic support, beyond the one day activity.

What an incredible day at our Inclusive Child Play Festival!

Today, we brought together 150+ joyful kids (ages 3-17) for a fun-filled celebration of play, culture, and connection. Through intergenerational engagement, we revived cherished traditions—think katolo, ombulu, kora games, singing, dancing, storytelling, and even mental health education woven in!

This magic not only preserved our cultural heritage but built teamwork, problem-solving skills, and balanced socialization for our young stars.

It highlighted a big gap: too many kids missing out on these roots amid digital games. Let's strengthen cultural heritage with more intergenerational fun, human libraries, and traditional play!

This Tuesday and Wednesday, we joined hands with Impact Gateway Africa and the IYBA-SEED programme for an Inclusive Entrepreneurship Curriculum Co-Creation Workshop at Homeless of Kisumu .

Traditional curricula often overlook key inclusivity elements like wellbeing, gender, and disability, leaving entrepreneurs without vital tools for better productivity.

We're thrilled to assist bridge that gap and strengthen the MSME ecosystem with this co-creation process.

Day 2 of Cohort III was ELECTRIC.

Thrilled energy filled the room with group work, case studies, and inspiring success stories.

Spotlight on Madam Alice, a poultry farmer from Okana, who used to battle middlemen when selling her layers, until Cohort II training changed everything. She mastered branding and marketing tricks, that enabled her to sell 60 birds in just 2 weeks stress-free, and kept every profit.
