Bank holiday boredom? Why not visit our Voluntary Medical Service open day at the Weighbridge to find out more about what we do.
Our Rescue technicians spent the morning cutting up a demo car, while the rest of the team prepped the medical tent and set up the colouring competition and laid out our free pens.
We’re here 12 - 4pm.

Information corner! Today is lung conditions.
🫁 All four of these conditions affect the same anatomical region—the pleural space—yet they differ significantly in cause, content, and clinical impact. Pneumothorax refers to the presence of air 💨 within the pleural cavity, leading to partial or complete lung collapse and presenting with sudden chest pain and shortness of breath. Hemothorax involves the accumulation of blood 🩸 in this space, most often due to trauma, and can rapidly compromise hemodynamic stability, requiring urgent drainage. Pleural effusion is characterized by the buildup of non-infectious fluid, commonly associated with conditions such as heart failure ♥️,infections, or systemic diseases. In contrast, emphysema represents an infected pleural effusion where pus accumulates, indicating a more severe process that necessitates both antibiotic 💊 therapy and drainage. In essence, whether air, blood, fluid, or pus occupies the pleural space, the location remains the same—but the diagnosis, management, and urgency vary considerably. 🚑

We also have crews out tomorrow providing medical and rescue for the first JMCLCC Hillclimb of the season.
Thanks to all our volunteers for giving up so much of their time, it really appreciated 👍
