The second edition of Baker Tilly Bites brought a taste of South Africa to the office 🇿🇦
This month, Finance Manager at Baker Tilly Channel Islands, Jolanie Nel shared two of her favourite South African treats with the team, mini milk tarts and malva pudding.
A traditional South African dessert, malva pudding is best served warm with ice cream or custard, alongside a cup of coffee or tea.
A great way to share a little piece of home and continue celebrating the different cultures and backgrounds across our team through Baker Tilly Bites 🌍

After a busy period, the team took some well-earned time out at the Oche Club.
An evening of darts, friendly competition and plenty of laughs, a great way to reconnect and celebrate the strength of the team behind the work.
A chance to step away from the desks, recharge, and spend time together outside of the day-to-day.

Kicking off the very first Baker Tilly Bites with a taste of Scotland 🏴
This month, Ewan Spraggon, Managing Director at Baker Tilly Channel Islands, brought a selection of Scottish favourites into the office, from Irn-Bru and Tunnock’s Tea Cakes to homemade haggis sausage rolls.
A great way to share a little piece of home, celebrate different cultures across our team, and introduce colleagues to something new.
We’re looking forward to seeing where Baker Tilly Bites takes us next.

We’re excited to be launching a new monthly series at Baker Tilly Channel Islands: Baker Tilly Bites 🍴
Once a month, a member of the team will bring in a snack, treat or dish connected to their home country, somewhere they’ve lived, or a place that means something to them.
It’s a simple idea, but a great way to celebrate the different cultures, backgrounds and stories within our team, while giving colleagues the chance to share a little piece of home with the team.
We’re looking forward to seeing where Baker Tilly Bites takes us.

A great reminder that while we operate locally, we’re part of something bigger.

Exam season can feel like a lot…
One of the biggest things that’s helped me during exam season at Baker Tilly Channel Islands is the support around me.
The study leave in the weeks leading up to exams means I can fully switch off from work and focus on revision.
But it’s not just the time off, it’s the people. You’re surrounded by colleagues who have been through the same exams, whether that was last year or years ago, and they’re always willing to share advice or help test your knowledge along the way.
Having exams scheduled outside of busy season also makes a huge difference. It keeps work pressure lower and allows you to properly balance revision with life outside of work.

Strong planning sets you up for success.
One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received since starting my contract at Baker Tilly Channel Islands is to take the time to plan properly before getting stuck into any audit work.
It might feel quicker to dive straight in, but strong planning actually saves you time in the long run. It helps you prioritise tasks, allocate your time more effectively, and stay on track throughout the engagement.
It also means you can spot potential issues early and deal with them proactively, rather than trying to fix things later on.
