Right from the birth of film, filmmakers were using visual effects. And some of the techniques they dreamt up way back then are STILL at the core of steps VFX artists take in animation and compositing.
In this 3 hour workshop at VIEW Conference, visual effects journalist Ian Failes from Befores & Afters will look back at the history of VFX—right from the beginning, to key moments in practical effects, optical effects and miniatures, and to landmark achievements in digital visual effects, CGI and virtual production. You’ll see tons of examples with rarely-seen videos and before/after images.
Plus, we’ll enter into the great debate of practical vs. digital, and discuss where AI in VFX is headed (you might be surprised).
