As the next EU budget is negotiated, we're calling for sustained public investment in dance.

It's been a month since the incredible gathering of Big Pulse Reflections – a vibrant and engaging 2-day forum where Big Pulse partners along with artists, curators, producers, administrators, communications officers and policymakers from across Europe and beyond came together to talk, share, connect and look towards the future of dance!

It was also an exciting moment as we launched the Dance Festivals Network Europe – a coalition of European dance festivals dedicated to advancing contemporary dance’s role in building a sustainable, inclusive and innovative future.

Thank you to Teatro Stabile Torino and Torinodanza Festival for hosting this event with such grace and generosity, and a huge thank you to all the speakers, facilitators and participants who shared insights and inspiration over the course of the two days.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful setting for the opening of Big Pulse Reflections, a two-day professional forum focused on the importance of European collaboration for the future of the dance sector.

Thank you to Alessandro Bianchi (President of Teatro Stabile), Lorenza Patriarca (President of the Cultural Commission of the City of Turin), and Anna Cremonini (Artistic Director, Torinodanza Festival for launching this event with such a warm welcome in Museu Nazionale del Risorgimento in the breathtaking and historic city of Turin, Italy.

Looking forward to a rich time of connection and sharing together over these coming two days.

Our network is proud to have supported two wonderful performances that will be part of the Torinodanza program, from September 12th to October 26th, bringing two outstanding examples of European dance to the city.

🟣 Carcaça, by Marco Da Silva Ferreira
A cast of 10 performers form a dynamic and joyful ensemble, their complex and percussive footwork mixing with live music to create a unique soundtrack. Taking street dance, hip-hop battles and club culture as their base, they dismantle traditional European folk dances, reconstructing them through a contemporary lens.

🟣 Lapis Lazuli, by Euripides Laskaridis
A metamorphic rock that exhibits unpredictable behavior under pressure. From the mask of Tutankhamun to the Renaissance paintings of Titian and Yves Klein’s (post)modernist monochromatic works, Lapis Lazuli has graced a legion of artworks with its radiant and mysterious color.

BIG Pulse Dance Alliance in Helsinki!
During the five intense days of work, the aspects of the development of the Big Pulse project were addressed, which is evolving into a network by expanding the number of partners and thus its sphere of action.

🟣 An important connection with Marlon Barrios Solano showcased the potential of AI in the world of communication and dance.

🟣 Katarina Lindholm (Zodiak) developed a Toolbox on topics related to sustainability, while Kena Rodriguez Kuhn (Sismograf) shared an important experience of outdoor performances.

🟣 The Dance House in Helsinki, a fascinating complex located within an impressive building that used to house a cable factory, was showcased in detail by manager Mikael Aatonen.

CLOSING PARTY at Tanz im August! 🎇🌟

What an amazing festival it has been, and we wish it didn't have to come to an end yet, but we will close it in style and we hope we will see many of you at the closing party to share in the celebrations!

Stevie Gunter will be at the decks to bring electric energy and positives vibes to the dance floor, and is sure to get you dancing late into the night.

Contemporary dance and physical theatre collective and Big Pulse Artsts, POCKETART's latest work Fairy Tales, featuring eight female dancers and two musicians, is headed for the UK for the first time!

Exploring the intersection of femininity, identity and self-discovery, Fairy Tales aims to connect us to our past by revisiting childhood experiences. By taking on different roles from fairy tales or every day real-life figures, the dancers envision new fantasies that reimagine how we see our happy endings.
