📣 PICOSATS participates in the POR FESR program 2021-2027, Friuli Venezia Giulia with the project “SAT-PRO”

The SAT-PRO project aims to develop an innovative satellite telecommunications system, integrating a next-generation transmitter and antenna, with onboard data processing capabilities. The objective is to create a miniaturized, efficient, and high-performance system for satellite networks within the New Space Economy

A world-first in satellite-to-smartphone communications

For the first time ever, a Ka satellite-to-cellular connection has been successfully demonstrated — and PICOSATS SRL hardware played a key role.

Leveraging our RADIOSAT K/Ka-band transponder on board of D-Orbit ION SCV13, Qualcomm has shown that direct satellite connectivity to smartphones in millimeter waves is now a reality, unlocking new possibilities for high-capacity 5G and 6G NTN architectures.

We are excited to announce that PICOSATS will present its new high-throughput SDR for 5G at the Space Tech Expo in Bremen 🚀 .

5G is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of the New Space Economy, enabling broadband, low-latency services and unlocking a new generation of in-orbit connectivity. To deploy truly scalable 5G constellations, hosting the gNodeB directly onboard the satellite is a pivotal step: and our SDR is designed exactly for this mission 🛰️ ✨ .

Combined with PICOSATS’ already flying products, this new SDR is ready to meet the stringent requirements of 5G networks, including support for Ka-band (FR2) services.

🚀 On July 23rd, the PICOSATS SRL Ka 5G Transponder was successfully launched as part of the LIDE mission under the ESA ARTES program

This innovative mission aims to demonstrate 5G high-throughput satellite connectivity in rural and suburban areas using K/Ka-band RF transponders — a key step toward the future of integrated terrestrial and space-based communications.
