It’s the weekend when the cycling season starts in Tuscany 🤍

The second of our rides from was 35km along not just one but two of the most panoramic strade bianche in Chianti. Along the way we cut through the hilltop town of Volpaia and enjoyed the changing colours of the leaves on the vines.

A glorious 25km gravel loop starting and finishing at Fattoria Vignamaggio, taking in the best of this part of tuscany; the world famous wine region of Chianti Classico.

Throwback to the Muretti Madness route we rode at the start of November last year.
The diversity of these two shots show why the 24-105 is my main lens of choice to keep on the camera when I am riding. I can shoot wide and include the landscape when close to other riders (as in the first shot) but then zoom in and get portraits from a distance with good subject and background separation. No extra lenses to carry and no fiddling around to change them. . .

It’s motivation Monday again!
For such a long time I have wanted to take this shot. On the road from Florence to Greve, just before reaching Greve, there’s a wall of Tuscan backdrop but until yesterday I haven’t had a lens long enough with me (and a cyclist in the right place) to take it. Fortunately with the Sony RX100VII zoomed all the way to 200mm I managed to get it.

Freaky February. This week’s unusually warm weather has had us rummaging around for our spring clothing here as temperatures hit over 20 degrees Celsius.
But I won’t be putting away the winter kit (that you can see in these photos) just yet as it looks like next week we will be going back down to cooler more normal temperatures.

Can you believe the sun isn’t always shining in Tuscany?! Shocking but true. The Idro jacket has had three outings so far this week so I’m glad I had it with me. . .
