In Plain Sight spotlight:


As we move closer to the opening of our upcoming show - In Plain Sight: Photography, Power and Public Space in Britain - we are pleased to highlight the artists included in the exhibition.

We kick off our spotlight with represented Artist and her seminal series Country Life (1984), offering a satirical portrayal of Britain’s social hierarchies at the height of Thatcherism.

Created in domestic interiors and manicured
gardens across London, Scotland, and Oxfordshire, the series parodies the attitudes of the landed gentry through a refined interplay of text and image. By appropriating the still life and landscape genres, Knorr maps a terrain where nature and property intertwine,
revealing the persistence of privilege and the slow evolution of Britain’s class structures.

At its core, In Plain Sight is both a reflection on Britain’s rich photographic landscape
and a testament to its profound contributions to social discourse with a particular focus
on the last twenty years.

Bringing together the work of eight lens-based artists, In Plain Sight opens a dialogue
with specific histories of the United Kingdom which continue to influence visual culture
today.

The photographs, video and sculptural works included from these UK-based
artists oscillate between fiction and document, while conceptually grounded in the
experience and existential analysis of contemporary culture in Britain, where it
originated and from where it ventures abroad.

Miglionico (Matera)

< Un intervento d'arte pubblica temporaneo come strumento di bellezza e riflessione. Succede a Miglionico, dove l'installazione site-specific No Guerra di Mario Cresci, monumentale composizione di colori, forme e segni, trasforma il cantiere di restauro del serbatoio comunale dell’acqua, proponendosi nella sua funzione culturale e di dialogo con il paesaggio urbano. Per la sua opera, Cresci si è ispirato al Polittico di Cima da Conegliano (1499), custodito nella Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore di Miglionico. No Guerra reinterpreta in chiave contemporanea il Cristo Redentore, raffigurato al vertice nell’opera rinascimentale, attraverso il linguaggio riconoscibile dell'artista, che ne offre un’interpretazione astratta e simbolica. > 💫

is part of the Bukhara Biennial 🔥

From 5 September – 20 November, The Bukhara Biennial presents 'Recipes for Broken Hearts' featuring Bekhbataar Enkhtur, who is amongst over 70 participants to date all developing new projects for the debut edition.

The site-specific, interdisciplinary gathering will take the form of an expanded multi-sensory feast, marking one of Central Asia’s largest and most diverse cultural initiatives to date.

The event is commissioned by Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation and the first edition is curated by Artistic Director Diana Campbell.

The biennial’s debut edition will feature an interdisciplinary list of Uzbek, Central Asian and international participants, who will each present site-specific artworks and installations alongside a programme of events, performances and culinary activations.
