As summer comes to an end, everyone returns to school and classes, we remember our DLG workshop this past June. Our collection of pictures, videos, memories & friends made this experience another one for the books 🙌. A heartfelt thank you to the Carmel Family ( whose generous donation made our summer workshop in Rome possible. 💛

Thanks to them, we partnered with and brought together a team of 6 volunteers .villamizar to among 20 women and children from .luce.pdn We donated sewing machines, textiles, and notions—planting seeds of creativity that we hope will keep growing. 🌱✂️

The skills learned will help these women design, create, and explore entrepreneurial paths that can help break the cycle of poverty.

Sharing time with women from diverse cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds opened hearts and minds on both sides. We left with more empathy, recognizing that we share far more similarities than differences.

We experienced moments we’ll carry forever—and we can’t wait to keep creating these connections in new corners of the world where women dream big. 🌍💫

The sewing machine, has taken us to many places around the world since 2017, connected us to hundreds of women and improved lives through creativity. We continue to with We are grateful for our donors and family of friends that make our workshops possible! This time from Rome we say “grazie”!!!

Day 1 teaching with ! We started off the week with teaching how to crochet with recycled materials. Our volunteers demonstrated how to repurpose cotton t-shirts into yarn 🧶 our students then learned how to crochet with their new sustainable material. We are so thrilled with the enthusiasm and participation from todays class and eager to see how everyone uses their new skill! 🪡

Last year Angie had the opportunity to visit one of the projects and she was determined to bring the DLG team for a full workshop. Thanks to our donors we are doing it 🙌!!

🇬🇹✨ Next stop: Guatemala! The land of Maya textiles, vibrant colors, and deep symbolic patterns.

We’re excited to bring our workshop to a rural community in the highlands of western Guatemala, where we’ll be teaching 20 young women and hosting a special session for a girls’ soccer team! ⚽🎨

This meaningful connection was made possible through local friends and the talented designer .gt , who beautifully showcases Guatemalan traditions. We’re also grateful to .ong for organizing and welcoming us into this community.

💡 Led by Angie , we’ll once again while staying true to our commitment to sustainability in fashion. We believe in the power of education to transform communities, and we’re honored to be part of this journey.

Good morning Uganda! Our friends from have started a sewing program- following Angie’s 46 primary students signed up for the program, sharing 8 sewing machines donated by DLG. We are thrilled to see Rosy- one of our students from our past workshops in Uganda teaching the kids. We believe in creativity and the impact it creates. Very excited to see this dream a reality and grateful for the support of our donors that believe in our mission. 🙌

One of our biggest success stories has been with a group in Uganda- . We met via zoom in the mist of the pandemic back in 2020, thanks to the introduction from that moment, our work together has been impactful, effective & meaningful. Close to 80 women have been through our program. We have visited them twice, and are proud to announce that starting this coming February, the sewing program will be included in the elementary school. This means 150 kids will follow a similar program as . It’s coordinator, and his dedicated team have made it possible for many of the women beneficiaries to start their own businesses, allowing them to become financially independent and now among its young! Our donors make us great, and we are so thankful!!

As 2024 winds down, we want to thank our family & friends for being part of our DLG work. We want to share the incredible progress of the many women we are proud to call our friends & students. These pictures sent from Lumule in Uganda, shows the women working on their own sewing machines, putting to practice the skills we taught and improving the lives of their families.
