MAI MAI MAI is the audio/video project of Toni Cutrone, a descent into the ritualistic and symbolic depths of Southern Italy and the Mediterranean. Through a dense weave of sound and imagery, it explores the intersection of folklore, spirituality, and popular culture, where pagan rites meet Catholicism, nature meets rural magic and ancient musical traditions collide with their contemporary transformations.
Using field recordings, archival material, and collaborations with artists from the avant and ethnic scene (including Youmna Saba, Mike Cooper, Vera di Lecce, Lino Capra Vaccina, Maria Violenza, Nziria, Go Dugong) Mai Mai Mai builds a sonic landscape rooted in what could be called Mediterranean Hauntology: not a nostalgic reverence for the past, but a noisy awakening of its ghosts, brought back to resonate through the present.
He has released music on labels such as Boring Machines, Yerevan Tapes, Not Not Fun, God Unknown, Instruments of Discipline, La Tempesta International, Maple Death Records, Bomba Dischi and WV Sorcerer Production. He also contributed electronics to GNOD’s Chapel Perilous (Rocket Recordings), recorded during a European tour shared with the band.
2025 marked a particularly intense year for the project, with the release of I Racconti di Aretusa, a collaborative vinyl with the legendary Lino Capra Vaccina, founding member of seminal cult bands Aktuala and Telaio Magnetico (alongside Franco Battiato); a split LP with iconic Italian duo OvO, and the original soundtrack for the film Wondrous is the Silence of My Master by Montenegrin director Ivan Salatić.
On February 13th 2026, KARAKOZ, a new full-length album was released via Maple Death Records, in collaboration with Wonder Cabinet and Radio Alhara: a further step into Mai Mai Mai’s ongoing radical rewriting of Mediterranean sound and myth, featuring tracks with Maya Al Khaldi, Julmud, Alabaster dePlume and Osama Abu Ali.

Spazio XI, attraverso il suo format “E—XI: esperienze, linguaggi, visioni” presenta Dikroisme A/V: un’opera inedita progettata in collaborazione con l’artista multimediale .alc (Edoardo Staffa) e l’artista
sonoro

Sabato 7 marzo l’evento inaugurerà alle ore 17.00 con l’apertura delle due location ed inizierà con un talk in cui, immersi in una cornice ambient audiovisiva immersiva, i membri di Spazio XI insieme agli artisti ospiti dialogheranno sulla ricerca e il concept di Dikroisme, l’opera inedita che indaga il concetto di organico, presentandola attraverso visioni ed esperienze a partire dal racconto delle proprie sperimentazioni e linguaggi.
Successivamente l’opera prenderà vita in due location: l’ex edicola in Piazzetta della creatività e la frontale
Chiesa del Suffragio del Centro Arti Visive Pescheria.
Vincenzo Pizzi, attraverso la sua performance sonora nell’ex edicola, modificherà in tempo reale l’aspetto audiovisivo dell’opera all’interno della Chiesa del
Suffragio.
Il pubblico potrà muoversi da interno ad esterno tra le due location per assistere all’evoluzione dell’opera, trovando ogni volta un ambiente audiovisivo che si trasforma.
