Today, on Trans Day of Visibility, we honor the ones who didn’t just live in their truth, but fought for it to exist in the first place.

Sir Lady Java was a pioneer, a force, and a woman ahead of her time. As the first trans women of color on record to challenge the legal system and ultimately win, she stood up against unjust laws that targeted gender expression and identity. With the support of the American Civil Liberties Union, her case helped strike down discriminatory policies and opened doors that many walk through today.

This isn’t just history, it’s legacy. It’s resistance. It’s courage.
