On the first day of the year, it was also customary to follow certain good habits: think positively throughout the day, greet each other cheerfully, give gold coins to friends and family, avoid gossip, and perform rituals dedicated to the god Janus. In fact, the month of January takes its name from him: Janus, the god of new beginnings, whose name means “door” or “gate” 🚪.

Questo era l'augurio che il primo gennaio ci si scambiava nell'antica Roma.

☀️ In occasione del primo giorno dell'anno si era inoltre soliti seguire alcune buone abitudini: avere pensieri positivi tutto il giorno, salutarsi con gioia, regalare monete d'oro ad amici e familiari, evitare pettegolezzi e portare avanti rituali dedicati al dio Giano.
È infatti proprio da lui che prende nome il mese di gennaio: Giano, la divinità dei nuovi inizi, il cui nome significa "porta" o "cancello" 🚪
