You’re happy and you know it: waiting for your loaf 🍞 Finally had a chance to try focaccia at this historic bakery and then took a walk downtown where we also went cheese shopping🧀

Last but not least, late lunch in Matera at lovely 😋 (where we tried local specialties like “peperone crusco” (crunchy deep fried red bell pepper) and “sporcamuss” (layered dessert that will destroy your lip combo if you have one😹)

“La bella stagione” (The beautiful season) is approaching and so here’s a list of little towns near Bari to hit on any day in May or June☀️

We started off in Ostuni (aka “la città bianca”), then went on to Cisternino for its pretty flowery alleys🌺 Then we stopped in Ceglie Messapica to taste the cegliese cookie (almond-jelly)🍪 Lunch in Martina Franca with its specialty meats (capocollo, salsiccia, bombette). Lastly a walk in Locorotondo to digest (prettiest during the Xmas season🌠)

A long overdue visit at the wonderful Santa Severa Castle near Rome🏰🌊

(Its name is tied to young Christian martyr Severa, who, according to tradition, died here in 298).

The area has seen a thousand lives: from Roman colony to the residence of noble Roman families, from medieval village to a German base during World War II.

The castle offers an interesting selection of exhibitions, events, concerts, guided tours, sports activities and even a hostel, allowing guests to fully experience its magic atmosphere.
