Someone who grew up believing the television could be a playmate.

I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember. The characters and worlds I saw on the screen didn’t stay there. They spilled out into imaginary games in the backyard, on the playground, and anywhere else a kid could run around pretending.

For the past 45 years, video games have grown into one of the most exciting art forms in modern culture.

I started READ ONLY MAGAZINE to celebrate that.

Not just the games themselves, but the memories, emotions, and cultural impact they leave behind.

Because the stories around video games are often just as meaningful as the games themselves.

What was the first video game that made your imagination run wild?

Christmas came and went so fast that I did not even have a moment to photograph the handmade gifts I gave out this year, let alone post about them. Thankfully, came through and sent me a photo of the Mr. Bingle ornament I made for her this holiday season.

Celeste introduced me to this wonderfully regional holiday character, and he was a lot of fun to draw and paint. Basically, he is the cone-head sundae from Friendly’s mashed up with Frosty the Snowman, with just enough extra Christmas flair tacked on to comfortably dodge copyright infringement.

A longtime pal, .redding , reached out to commission me to draw some tattoo designs. I was happy to do it and even happier with how they turned out.
